New kits >:D

Spottedfeather lay outside, feeling her belly start to cramp. 'Kits, calm down' she thought to herself. They had been moving around a lot lately. 'Maybe soon' as she thought that, her belly erupted in pain once again. She stretched out further in the sun, hoping the cramping would calm down. As more waves of pain came to her, she decided to just go to the nursery and lay out of the cold wind. As she layed down, her legs collasped underneath her at the last second, a spasm of pain erupting from her. She yowled out, then grinding her teeth together. Her belly pain began to rise, increasing by the second. "Swiftpaw!" she yowled for the medicine cat apprentice.

He was at her side in a flash of black and white fur. Swiftpaw had seen this coming, knew the kits would be arriving soon. He had gathered the herbs and stored them safely in dock leaves and tucked them away for this day, and now that it had come, he carried the bundle with him as he sprinted to the nursery. He dropped them on the floor and gave the queen a reassuring nuzzle. "It's alright, Spottedfeather, I'm here. Just eat this-" He nudged a few leves of chervil her way. "-and when you're done, take this stick and put it in your mouth." Hailstorm had taught him about delivering kits, but this would be the first time he aided in the delivery without his mentor. Hopefully, everything would go smoothly. He kept his lighthearted and relaxed attitude, hoping that the queen, too, would not be worried.

Spottedfeather felt immediately relaxed as Swiftpaw came in, though another wave of pain her and she took the leaves, not even caring about the taste anymore. "Thank you Swiftpaw" she meowed to the medicine cat. She trusted him completely, she nuzzled him back and took the stick into her mouth, knowing she would definitely need it. She felt more contractions hit her belly, making her bite onto the stick, her breathing getting labored.

He gently kneaded her belly with his front paws, trying to see how many kits there would be. Two... I think there's two... "Okay. All you need to do is push; I'll take care of the rest."

Spottedfeather nodded, and waited to another wave of contractions to come. As she felt the pain start, she started to push, feeling more and more pain wave off of her. She bite onto the stick more, as she felt her first little bundle come out. 'Should I clean it first?' was her first thought, but the unexperienced mother felt another sudden rush of pain, and continued to listen to Swiftpaws directions, and pushed. She felt the second one slip out easier than the first, her exhausted body quickly running out of energy. The pain was still there, but not as intense. Quickly, she broke the kits sacks and started to clean both of them, feeling them nuzzle against her swollen, milk filled teets. She smiled, but quickly picked up the stick she had dropped as a new pain came to her. 'Another?!' she thought, quickly feeling the worst contractions yet, but pushing and cracking the stick in her mouth as the last bundle came out. She turned and did that same she did to the other kits, but to the latest one. She purred, feeling them all pressing against her belly, and then settle down once they realized there was enough food. Her thoughts went back to Foxclaw, the father of these kits. She quickly brushed the thought away, not wanting his death to come up again. The whole clan would be there to support these kits.

His body squirmed and moved against his mother, searching for a teet. He latched onto one, pushing against his siblings.

OOC: Lol now there is three XD But the third could be a surprise to Swiftpaw, so you wouldn't have to edit your post. Next, the naming XD

What a pleasant surprise! Three perfectly healthy kits! "They're beautiful, Spottedfeather. You did well for a first-time queen!" Swiftpaw teased lightly. He helped her lick them clean and warm them up, pleased to feel their lungs expanding and shrinking with strength. "They're all very healthy. I should have suspected strong and healthy kits from a pair of strong and healthy warriors!" Of course, Foxclaw was no longer healthy now that he was dead, but he had been a fine warrior. "What would you like to name them?"

The second kit to be born, and who was now pummeling healthily at his mother's belly, was a handsome black with white paws, a white chest, and several flecks of light and dark brown shades. His face had a black mask over most of it, like a Siberian Husky(not hat they know what that is, but just a visual for the readers :3). He was average in size for toms his age, and had a cute, fluffy little tail that swept back and forth as he tried to shimmy himself into a more comfortable position.

The third kit, the surprise tom, let out a mewl as he was jostled by his brothers, being just the slightest bit smaller than them. He didn't look like much like them, with his seemingly-solid ginger coat, but he did seem to have the family trait of long, fluffy fur. He crawled back up to his mother's belly, pushing back now against his siblings until he too found a teet to nurse from.

"Thank you Swiftpaw, well lets see-" she pointed to a white with black tabby stripes male. "-this one should be Nightkit. Then this one is going to be Adderkit" Spottedfeather pointed to the tom that looked most like her, even her long fur. "Then this one shall be Flamekit" she pointed to the ginger tom. "I think Flamekit and Nightkit came from the rest of my family, they look like them" she smiled, remembering her family, but she was the last of her line, besides her new kits. She had no siblings.

"The Clan will be excited to hear that they've been born. Congratulations, Spottedfeather, they'll make great warriors." He looked at the kits with an almost loving expression. Who couldn't love the squeal of newborn kittens? Something about the largest tom, though, caught his eye. It wasn't the black stripes... There was nothing really different about him other than his pelt, but Swiftpaw's attention was drawn to Nightkit. He dipped his head to the queen, meowing a goodbye, and then backed out of the den. All the new family would need now was rest.

"Thank you Swiftpaw" Spottedfeather murmered quietly, before ducking her head down and cuddling her new kits. 'I am mother.' she smiled to herself and thought about Foxclaw. 'You're a father, even if you're not here.' she fell asleep to the squirming and purring of her new kits.

Rookpaw ran in, skidding to a stop when she saw the kits. "Wow.." she mewed softly. Her silver eyes shimmered as she looked at the balls of fur.
