Spottedpaw(Roseya)'s Hunting Lessons

Standing out in an open area was Dewclaw with Spottedpaw. "Okay, today is hunting. I am... Not the most skilled at it, but I'm good enough to teach you."

"Cool! I can't wait to make my first catch!" Spottedpaw tried to be quiet, sometimes hearing the other warriors say how the apprentices are always to loud when hunting, so they scare the prey away.

"This is the hunting crouch- it helps you be swift and silent, enabling you to surprise the prey." She got down into her hunting crouch, tail straight so it didn't hit anything, and slowly stalked forward. "You show me what you've got- but be careful, because your tail could hit a bush if it flicks. I had a real problem with that as an apprentice."


OOC: Alrighty. To catch something, you have to click the post reply instead of using the quickpost, like battling. Use the dice rolls, but change it to 'chance dice.' "Ok!" Spottedpaw stealthily went into her crouch and focused her tail on balancing her instead of flicking in excitement. She crept forward lightly and she made almost no sound.

Dewclaw nodded encouragingly and flicked her tail at a nearby rustling noise, telling her to give it a shot.

Spottedpaw pricked her ears at the noise and crept forward, sniffing the air. It smelled like rabbit, which was sometimes caught by the other cats but it was less common than mouse. Looking around a bush, she saw it nibbling on a nut, facing away from her. She crept up and stopped as far as she could leap comfortably. She leaped quietly, going high and making an arch as she went to land on her prey.

"That's ok, just keep trying." Most apprentices misses their first prey; she seen it happen a lot.

Spottedpaw smelled the air again. She slinked off into the thicket and looked past another bush to see a thrush near the end of a tree trunk pecking as some seeds. Slowly, she made sure she made no sound and went so she was behind the bird. She burst in the Gangnam Style Dance leaped, hoping she would finally catch something.

Dewclaw was pretty sure Spottedpaw got the gist of it, so she was going to let her try once more and then go home. "One more time, now."

Maybe she should try to get closer? She went around a bush, not thinking about sniffing and she almost didn't notice the huge squirrel eating nuts near a bush. She crept around it and went a little closer now and bolted to it, reaching her claws out to catch it.
