He Was Like "I still love you" and I was like "This is exhausting. We are never getting back together. Like ever."

Mapleface looked around the clearing for her brother, Thrushstripe. Strutting over, her green eyes sparkled with mischievousness. "Guess what, Thrushstipe." She said, a slight laugh in her voice. "You won't believe this."

Whenever his sister had decided to come and find him, Thrushstripe had been lying down basking in the moonlight in the middle of camp. It felt nice tonight and he wanted to enjoy it while he could since there wasn't a whole lot to do. When he heard his name, though, he quickly got up to where he was sitting down, facing Mapleface. "What is it?" he grumbled, wondering what she had to say. Whatever it was seemed to be some kind of joke, so he wasn't too interested, but he would hear her out.

"Guess what, Thrushstripe. I have gossip on Hailpaw." She looked around and leaned closer to her brother, whispering into his ear. "He totaalllllllllly asked me to be his secret mate."

"He what?!" He shouted, jumping back in complete shock. Everyone knew that was against the warrior code, didn't they? Hailpaw definitely should have known, especially about the 'mates' thing. How dare he even try to do that! It was pretty obvious though that Thrushstripe was panicking about it. "Wait, you didn't accept, did you?!"

"Of course not, brother!" She said with a laugh, rolling her pretty green eyes. "Why would I do such a thing?" she sat down, laughing. "But he is totally heart broken."

"But... but he should know better!" Thrushstripe responded. He really didn't know how he should react to this, but it obviously wasn't good. How in the name of Starclan could Hailpaw even think about that? But the bigger question... should he tell someone? Gah. The young warrior had no idea what he should do about it. He didn't want to tell and get the apprentice in trouble, but this was a big deal. On the other hand he didn't want to not tell and it get out of control. So many choices...

Taking a deep breath to try to compose himself, he looked at Mapleface with a worried look. "What do you think we should do about it? I... I mean, he can't just try to do that. Should we tell someone? I don't want to get him in trouble, but... no, we've got to tell! After all, he is trying to break the warrior code and I can't stand for that. Besides, it might be better in the long run if Sagestar were to know... or at least Mallowroot."

"No, we can't tell the medicine cat or the leaders. But... maybe we should tell the rest of the clan, you know? Just warn them in case he tries it with some other she-cat." Mapleface tilted her head to the side. "We could be helping Hailpaw, too."

We could be helping Hailpaw, too. He juggled the sentence around in his mind, trying to think of exactly how it would be helping the apprentice. How could that help? He couldn't see any logical reason in his head, but at the same time, maybe Mapleface had a point. He really didn't want to destroy Hailpaw's career as a medicine cat, but that also meant not taking part in spreading it around. "If you want to, you can tell everyone. I'm not going to be part of that. It's too risky. I don't want to be in trouble for it." he told her flatly before continuing. "Besides, how can we help him?"

"So people don't freak out and tell Sagestar and Mallowroot. Maybe if we prepare them, they'll just laugh it off." After his words sunk in, she frowned, putting on her best pout face. "But Thrushstripe, I need support! This is so hard to do."

"I just.. I don't know, Mapleface. I don't know how I feel about keeping this from Sagestar. I understand why, but this turn out to be a lot worse than it is already!" he complained, his heart pretty much torn between helping his sister or actually doing the right thing for the clan. Granted, he was furious over why Hailpaw would do such a thing.

Mapleface kept pouting. "But Thrushstripe, if we tell on Hailpaw, I might get in trouble! I can't get in trouble too!" she almost wailed, pressing up against her brother for 'support'.

Ic: Shadeclaw padded into camp, looking around for something to do. Spotting Mapleface and Thrushstripe having a rather quiet conversation, he called over, hoping he wasn't interrupting something important. "Hey, what's up? You cold, Mapleface?" He laughed at that last part a little, seeing as she was pressed up against her brother.

Instantly, Thrushstripe looked up to see Shadeclaw. Instantly he began feeling a little nervous. After all, this was the warrior he had looked up to as a kit and an early apprentice. But then again, he hadn't even agreed to anything that Mapleface wanted to do. He then turned and looked at his sister with a small smirk on his face. It was her decision and it was now or never. Thrushstripe didn't say a word; no, instead he simply dipped his head in respect for the older warrior and waited to see what Mapleface had to say.
