Escapee

Foxkit perked his ears in anticipation - a real warrior wanted to teach him! He was going to be so ahead of those kits in the nursery! "The hunter's crouch!" he nearly yelled in excitement, jumping to his feet.

"Shhhh! We don't want to wake anyone." Mossfur decided to demonstrate the crouch. "Like this." She crouched down with her bellie touching the ground.

Foxkit clumsily mirrored Mossfur's position, eyes wide and ears perked. He didn't understand where this was going, but decided to go along with it. After all, the warrior knew better than he did!

Mossfur crept forward and in a flash pounced on a leaf. "This is the warriors crouch. You use it to hunt. The leaf I just caught would be prey for the clan. Now you try."

Foxkit braced himself, leaning heavily on his haunches, before springing on the leaf Mossfur had so elegantly killed. With a squeal Foxkit missed his target, spinning into the dirt with a shameful expression.

"Ahh well. Your still a kit. Keep practicing or you can always train to be a medicine cat." Mossfur didn't expect her to succeed just to try.
