It was midmorning and the sun was rising high. Birds called and sung high in the willows nearby. Fish swam slowly in the rising heat of the equally lazy water. Nightbird waited beside a stream for her apprentice to appear for her training. Today was battle training. Riverclan needed this. Sunningrocks had to be won back! The dark-furred she-cat had chosen a good spot to train: a bush with enough room to crawl under, yet short enough to be pounced on; the willow trees with soft bark that was easy to claw; and the lazy stream deep enough to swim in. This was the obvious place to train.
