Mosspaw's Assessment

Possumtail got up and stretched. The sun was starting to rise. She padded over to the apprentice den. "Mosspaw!" Possumtail called quietly. Her big day was here. Her assessment. She walked over to the tunnel to wait for her apprentice. I hope she passes!

Mosspaw yawned and opened her eyes. She heard Possumtail's voice calling her. She sat upright and gave herself a quick grooming. "What will we do today?" she wondered outload. She stretched again and padded out of her den to find Possumtail waiting for her. "What will we do today?" she asked again but this time to Possumtail.

"What do you think? It's your assessment!" Possumtail answered with a purr as she headed out of the camp. "Alright the rules are simple. You are hunting alone in the territory. Try to catch 5 pieces of prey then come back to me. If you miss 10 pieces then we will go back to camp and you will try again later. Remember I will be watching but you won't see me. If you do just pretend you didn't. You may start whenever you are ready!"

OOC: Double posts do not count here. Just keep going until you have the right number of prey.

Mosspaw was so excited yet nervous. She raced out of the camp and into the forest.

Mosspaw sniffed the air. She saw a squirrel munching on a nut. It didn't seem to notice her so she stalked it. When she was close enough she pounced. She caught it and whispered "Yes. 4 more to go."

Using her senses, Mosspaw scented a mouse and slowly crept towards it's direction. She stalked it very carefully by putting down her paws lightly and kept downwind of it. She was careful.to not let it hear or scent her. Once she was close enough she wasted no time in thinking. She pounced on the furry body and hoped she caught it. The mouse scented her at the last moment and darted away.

Mosspaw sniffed the air again. This time she saw 2 mice. One looked like the offspring of the other. It was a bit undersized but it would do. She crept in their direction and again put her paws down lightly. Springing out of the bushes she pounced on her prey. She landed on one of the mice but was not quick enough to catch the younger one. Grumbling she retourned to drop of her prey with the others. At least I caught one Mosspaw thought to console herself

Spotting two mice and a squirrel, Mosspaw crept up on the squirrel first. She leaped at the squirrel and killed it. Next she went for the mice a little ways off. Her paws silent as she could make them, Mosspaw slithered to them as close as she could. She puonced again and hoped she would catch all of them. She lamded a bit off and it gave time for the mouse to dart away.

Using her senses, Mosspaw scented a mouse family of 3 and slowly crept towards it's direction. She stalked it very carefully by putting down her paws lightly and kept downwind of it. She was careful.to not let it hear or scent her. Once she was close enough she wasted no time in thinking. She pounced on the furry body and hoped she caught it. She landed squarely on the ground and swiftly delivered the killing bite. "One more." she whispered.

I can do it! I can get one more piece of prey! Mosspaw scented the air more. Two more squirrels. There must be a big family of them living in one of the trees. She stalked up on them. I only have to catch one of them. Soon she pounced.
