Nightpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Froststar moved swiftly over to the willow tree, leaping up on the low branch and looking around. Her shoulders were light, as if a weight had been taken off, and she appeared relieved. Raising her voice, she called the clan to a meeting. Finally, there would be more paws around camp. With the sudden addition of kits, plus today's ceremony, RiverClan appeared to be growing again. The calico just hoped it would keep up.

Nightpaw emerged from the apprentices den, her fur groomed until it shone slightly. Sitting not too far from the willow tree, she kept a slight smile. But for all the excitement and happiness in the she-cat's head, Nightpaw might as well have been running in circles. Amazing was now an understatement, considering that her emotions were nearly bursting out of her, and making the black and white striped tail of hers twitch back and forth.

Seeing Nightpaw in the crowd (that huge crowd of one) of cats, Froststar continued on. "I, Froststar, leader of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Nightpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" She waited for a reply before going on.

Nightpaw looked up with a half-giddy smile apon her muzzle. Fern eyes glittered as she mewed firmly, "I do." It seems like it took an eternity to get here! But now I'm finally going to become a warrior! Sure, the dark one still had to have her name given and go through an entire night for her vigil, but it will be no time compared to the life of a warrior set before her. As far as Nightpaw believed, now was everything she had ever hoped for.

A soft smile played at Froststar's lips as she spoke. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Nightpaw, from this moment you will be known as Nightbird (Right?). StarClan honors your strength and patience, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan."

Ic- Boom. All of those emotions threatened to spill out of the tiny she-cat. Struggling to prevent herself from bouncing around like a kit, the newly named she-cat gave a small high-pitched squeak. Her broad smile betraying her attempt at maturity, Nightbird purred, "Thank you Froststar. I feel very privileged to have my new name given to me." She knew these words were unnecessary, but she felt they needed to be spoken.
