Troublesome Nightmares

She was being chased through a black hole, figures of white and grey flying past her vision as she ran. She could hear the heavy footfalls of the cat behind her; he was quickly catching up to her and she didn't know what to do. There was no chance of escaping, no place to go. She could only go forward, tumbling into nothing. A loud screech came from behind her and Midnightkit awoke with a jolt.

Midnightkit's eyes grew big, the green in them reflecting the little moonlight that leaked through the leaves. She was in a forest she had never been in before, and the smell was foreign. Out of the corner of her eye, Midnightkit caught sight of a cat like shape loom in the darkness and she jumped back. Startled, she tumbled over her own paws and fell into a ball of nothing but fur, shaking slightly. She never took her eyes off of the shape, fearful that it was the monster from her dreams.

Oh great, another forest. Why won't these dreams leave me alone? Falconfang peered through a slight gloom, trying to take hold of his surroundings. Strange... this doesn't feel like one of my regular dreams. Thinking on that, he suddenly saw a small ball of fur some foxlengths in front of him. Tasting the air, he detected the faint smell of Shadowclan. "Hello?" he called out, stepping forward towards the curled-up kit.

Midnightkit heard a faint voice and started to whisper. The shadow in front of her had started to move and it's direction was towards her. She lost her courage she usually had in scary times and acted exactly like she was; a small scared lost kit.

Walking closer, it was more obvious to Falconfang that this was a kit... a familiar-looking kit. Had he seen the kit somewhere before? There still was a distance between them when he called out again, "Hey, are you okay?"

Midnightkit's ears perked up slightly as the voice drew nearer; she recognized this voice. "Falconfang?" she called out, her voice barely audible. The smell of Windclan traveled over to her and she knew she was correct on the name. That didn't stop her shaking though.

When the kit's voice came out, Falconfang knew that he recognized her as well. "Midnightkit?" Moving a bit quicker, the Windclan warrior came out of the shadows and stood a couple tail-lengths in front of the shaking kit. "What's going on?" he asked, trying to at least seem friendly.

"I-I...." Midnightkit was not sure what to tell him. How could she explain something to him that she herself didn't even see. "Uh...nothing.." she feebly mumbled, laying her head on her paws.

Falconfang tipped his head curiously; what was going on with this kit? The Windclan warrior suppressed a shudder as he remembered his own dream, and he cast his eyes around, as if that... thing would be here too, but there was nothing. "Well, don't worry," he mewed, trying to soothe the kit's fears. "I'm here for you." He felt a tad weird saying he would be there for a Shadowclan cat, but she was just a kit... not one of their mousebrained warriors.

Midnightkit smirked, shaking her head. "No you aren't... not for long anyways." She muttered slightly. She was old enough now to understand the point of the clans; that they were rivals.

Falconfang tipped his head in slight confusion, but let it go. The most important thing now was figuring out where to go. "Do you know where we are?" he asked. Was this... Thunderclan's forest? He had no idea. Truth be told, he hadn't really ventured more than his own territory or Fourtrees.

Midnightkit sat up, wrapping her tail tightly around her paws in an attempt to keep from shaking. The feeling of being in danger had faded slightly, but she was still on edge. Taking a glance around her, she shrugged. "I wouldn't know. I can't leave camp until I'm an apprentice." She told him.

"Right, right..." Falconfang took another look around, but still no familiar images were conjured up in his mind. "I have no idea where this place is..."

"Well, it's a forest." Midnightkit commented softly, not trying to sound rude. "That's all I know. It doesn't smell like any clan I've come to know though."
