Morning Hunting

Mosspelt stalked out of camp his mouth open hoping for the scent of prey to reach his scent glands. His green eyes were narrowed as he scaned the territory around him for prey. His claws glinted in the sunlight, his scar almost seemed brighter as he scanned for prey. The thrill of hunting was cast over him like a cloak. When he hunted he was a different cat, all stress gone, all of his duties felt as if they were lifted off of his shoulders. He hoped to have a good hunt this morning so the fresh-kill pile would fill up for leaf-bare.

Lionstar followed quickly. "I'll go look over here." He mewed, heading in the opposite direction.

It wasn't long when he spotted a mouse. Crouching, he began to swiftly crawl forward, tail as still as a stick. When he was close enough, he leaped, grabbing the mouse in his jaws and killing it quickly. He buried it for later before going to look for more.

Mosspelt nodded and stalked away, soon he heard a stick snap. He head whipped toward the noise and got into his hinting crouch. His paws made no sound as they touched the ground. A rabbit soon came into sight, when he was about a fox-length away his hind-legs smacked the ground and threw himself toward the rabbit claws unsheathed. The rabbit saw him coming and lept away.

Lionstar meanwhile spotted a thrush plucking at some seeds on the ground. He crouched, stalking towards it, then pounced, just barely snatching it from the air and killing it before it could fly away.

Mosspelt snarled at himself and smelled the air, the scent of a bird hit his nose and he slowly climbed the tree and he stalked on the branch the bird was on. When he was close enough he leapt at the bird. But he leapt to far and fell into a pile of moss.

ic: Lionstar buried his mouse and looked around for more prey. Suddenly a bird flew past his nose, sounding an alarm call. Lionstar wondered what had spooked it. Nevertheless, he leaped at it, trying to grasp it in his jaws before it flew too high. Catching it, he brought it down with ease, killing it swiftly and silently.

Mosspelt huffed as he landed on the moss and shook it off his nose. He stopped as soon as he saw another rabbit eating berries off a nearby bush. He got down and stalked the rabbit until about a fox length away and he lept at the rabbit the moss leaving his fur. His jaws clamped down on the rabbits neck killing it, he dropped it and looked at it and nodded approving of his catch. He buried it and moved on.

Lionstar picked up his mouse, thrush, and bird, then headed over to where he last saw Mosspelt. "Nice catch. How much have you caught so far?" He asked, dropping his three pieces of prey.
