Can Anyone Help This Poor Kit?!

Gingerkit lay in the middle of camp with her head resting on her paws. She sighed heavily as she sat there trying to figure out what to do in a camp that seemed so empty. If only Sagepaw or Greypaw were here, she thought. It was only when a small bit of stray moss floated by her in the breeze did she find some kind of entertainment. Spotting the little string of moss, Gingerkit jumped to her feet. "Don't let it get away!" She squeaked as she ran after her new play toy, clumsily pouncing on it when she got close enough, but it had slipped through her paws. "No! We can't let it escape us!" She continued, her imagination running wild.

Greypaw bit her tongue, trying not to laugh. She had just come in from hunting and was going to play with Gingerkit.

"Get back here!" She continued to shout as she chased the moss around. She hadn't even noticed that Greypaw had entered the camp. It was only when the moss had blown over to Greypaw's feet did Gingerkit acknowledge the apprentice by running right into her. Blinking her eyes to get a sense of her surroundings again, she finally looked up. "Oh hi Greypaw!" She squeaked excitedly.

"Hey Gingerkit." Greypaw purred. Handing the kit the moss, Greypaw meowed "What are you doing?

Finally grabbing onto the moss and holding it on the ground with her front paws, she looked back up at Greypaw again. "I'm playing," She mewed. "But I don't have anyone to play with." She sighed deeply as she looked down and pawed at the moss.

I'll play with you." Greypaw meowed.

When hearing that, Gingerkit jumped up as she began to grow excited once more. "You will?" She asked, her face lighting up. "You're so awesome, Greypaw!"

Greypaw purred. "You are, too!" she meowed. She rolled the moss in a ball, and batted it gently towards Gingerkit.

Watching the ball roll towards her, Gingerkit waited for just the right moment before she pounced onto it. Claws out, she grabbed onto it as if she were catching prey. "Ha ha!" She squeaked. "I got it! I caught the frog!" After getting done with her little imaginary moment, she climbed off the moss ball and smacked it as hard as she could back to the apprentice, which being only a few weeks old the ball didn't roll very fast.

Greypaw darted a paw forward, hitting it back.

Watching it roll, Gingerkit ran for it and caught it in between her front paws. "I caught it, I caught it!" She squeaked before turning back to Greypaw. "Are you ready for it? It's gonna be fast!" She then hit the ball back, but it had only gone slightly faster than the first time she had smacked it.

Greypaw pretened having trouble getting it. "Wow, that was fast!" Greypaw purred, rolling it back.
