WOLF---It ROCKS

And I have a question for you?

Has anyone seen, heard of, or played WOLF before?

Now, you probably have a question for me!

Sarrow, what is WOLF?

Well, I've got the answer!

WOLF is a 1994 wolf simulation, as the title suggest. Unlike WolfQuest, with the lack of educational value and no effort needed to actually survive, WOLF is a challenging game in which you can play Simulation, also known as Sandbox, and choose the span of time you play, the amount of prey, map size, weather, number of people, and the number of hunters. After selecting that, you choose your wolf, how many wolves are in your pack, and if there are any other packs and the number of loners. The key to the game is to educate the players about the life of the wolf, and in the game you must keep yourself and your pack alive, hunt your food, or scavenge if your lucky, and pass on your genes. Again, unlike WolfQuest were your wolf doesn't die of hunger or thirst, only injury, and there are no threats in the game, WOLF includes hunters, traps, and you must keep yourself fed and watered to stay alive. Can you survive?

Now, I recommend this game to anyone who likes wolves and is looking for a fun wolf game.

EDIT: How do you download it?! I have the playalot games installed (which is what the download brings me to), so now what?

Well, download DOS first, and install it. Once the DOSBox Icon is on your computer, click the download WOLF link. Once at Abandonia, click "GET IT' and then on the next screen click "GET IT" again. The screens should look like this. Download and install it. Once installed, you should have a compressed(or zipped) folder titled 'Wolf' or 'Wolf-1' depending on how many times you've downloaded. For you, most likely 'Wolf'. Anyway, click that folder. Select 'Extract All' and then the folder should be unzipped. Open it. Now, if you want sound effects, scroll through the folder until you find an Application called 'Setup'. It might ask you to Cancel or Allow, allow it, the Setup isn't a threat. I've ran it a lot. So, for setup, choose the settings and test them with your game until you find the right settings! (Mine are Sound Source and Sound Blaster OPL2, but yours might be different.)

Now, go back to the 'Wolf' file. Scroll all the way to the bottom, and there should be two Applications. One should be 'W' and one should be 'Wolf' drag and drop either of the Applications on DOSBox, and enjoy!

Alright so we have D-whatever box, but there's no folder for it. Just the installer. you can't put files INTO AN INSTALLER. What do we do now?

if we don't put it somewhere, whenever i try to run it says "___ has stopped working" and shuts off -.-

Do you have both WOLF and DOSBox downloaded and Installed?

If you do, there should be a zipped file called 'Wolf'.

Unzip it.

Find the Applications 'Setup' and Wolf' and 'W'.

Run Setup if you want sound effects.

Drag and drop either the Application 'W' or the Application 'Wolf' onto the DosBox icon on your desktop.(It would be most handy if when installing you make a desktop shortcut)

Ice- Hmm...How did you run Setup? Like, did you drag and drop Setup on DosBox, or just double click it and run it like you would open a Desktop icon?

Aamitera is Okami, Amaterasuo is a book series she's writing. About wolves, so it kind of relates to okami, but only the wolf part. We didn't even know of okami when she started making the series. =3= but she's been too lazy to get many chapters done... lol

Frog, are you having the same problem as Ice, or are you good or...other?

This is what happens:
1. we downloaded DOSBOX and wolf
2. we put the wolf, w, and setup files from a unzipped Wolf package in the Dosbox desktop icon like you said.
3. Dosbox loaded up automatically
4. What actually loaded up as dosbox was this:

Ok. Thing is, your not supposed to load Setup with DOSBox. Just double click it, and it will open. Then you can run it. Your supposed to load either 'W' or 'Wolf' with DOSBox. :) But the way you did it works to. To get WOLF to open from there, type this is this order-

mount c c:/wolf

c:/

wolf

-

That MIGHT not work, because it doesn't for me. But yet, it might work for you.

MY COMPUTER IS TOO FUTURE TO RUN IT! I use to play that game like crack! My dream is that they'll convert it into a handheld game. TT3TT

Okay almost there :D
So Frog and me, [while Ice laid back and watched,] following your directions, loaded it up! It HALF WAY worked, meaning just like wolfy our computer is too "futuristic" to load it. It came up as a black screen(two, one said C: thingy is ready to be loaded which is a good thing :D, while the other supposedly was going to load the game). Just a plain black screen and it wouldn't load anything. It looked like it was trying to load because the mouse changed it's looks whenever I put it "inside" the box, but when I clicked inside it the mouse disappeared as if the game was loading. However, I waited a while and it still doesn't load...I think our computer is too futuristic, even though it's a regular old HP computer that we got back when I was 10...(6 years ago)
