Rainpaw's First Hunting Patrol

Graystream came into WindClan's camp and made his way towards the Apprentice den, "Rainpaw, are you ready for some more training?" He called softly into the Apprentices den. He had decided to start training early today so he wondered if Rainpaw would still be sleeping or not.

Rainpaw came bounding up behind him. "Let's go!" she said eagerly.

"You're awfully quick today." He meowed pleasently as he made towards the exit of WindClan's camp, "Let's get to it then." He said quickly, he flicked his tail signaling for the two of them to leave.

Rainpaw followed him, basically 'bouncing off the walls'. "What're we gonna doo today?" she asked him.

"We're going to be Hunting to help support your Clan." He meowed back to her. It was leaf-bear and prey was scarce, but he was more then confident that they would be able to find a meal or two. After a while of walking slowly, Graystream flicked his tail in designation for them to stop. He nodded his head in the direction of two rabbits, "Think you can catch them?" He mewed to her very softly, as he expected to know the answer already. He stood waiting for Rainpaw's move, the prey hadn't even noticed their existance yet.

Rainpaw crouched down, wiggled her bottom, and flew at the rabbits.

The first rabbit froze with fear. It was unable to move when Rainpaw landed on it. The second one however had a little more common sense. It moved away just before Rainpaw could land on it. Graystream saw this and managed to swiftly cut the rabbit off and make it turn back around to run towards Rainpaw's general direction, "That's yours." He called to her simply as the rabbit was very close to pass her by now.

Rainpaw turned and pounced on it. She watched it struggle, not sure what to do next.

Graystream quickly gave it a swift killing blow and then murmured his thanks to StarClan, "Do you think you understand?" He meowed as he looked over at her.

Rainpaw nodded. "I think so" she said, sounding a little less than confident.

"Come on, you'll do fine." He meowed to her as they began to move slowly in the search of more prey. Oddly enough, their short tracking expedition had lead them to a rabbit very close to RiverClan's border. "Now, do you think it'll run back towards us, or into RiverClan's Territory?" He asked her quietly, he looked at how the rabbit was standing.

"Um, judging by where we are, and how it's standing, I think it'll run towards Riverclan" Rainpaw meowed, letting her brain take over.

The rabbit stood still for a while before finally deciding to move in the direction of RiverClan's Territory, "Nice job." He meowed approvingly to her as he watched as the rabbit left, She's done so well with everything we've done so far. I wonder if... He thought curiously to himself. He glanced at her for a second before turning away. His thoughts were concealed as his face didn't give away what he was thinking. He gazed up into the sky in thought, the sun was starting to set. He looked over at her regularly, "Tell me when you're ready to turn in for the day." He meowed to her simply, he looked back into the sky thoughtfully.

Rainpaw noticed his look. "What's up?" she asked him.

He looked back over at her, "Nothing I can verify at the moment." He meowed back to her, "It's just a thought." He finished as he looked back up at the sky, as if searching for the answers, none came. The day grew older and older until Graystream finally decided that it was to late, "Come on Rainpaw, we should be heading back." He began to make his way back to WindClan's camp. A curious thought had struck him today, he couldn't shake it off his mind as they made their way through the Territory.
