Shadowsong's Leader Ceremony

Shadowsong sat at the entrance of the camp. She was nervously waiting for the warrior she had asked to come with her while she went over everything in her head. The disappearance of Ghoststar saddened her greatly but clan life had to continue, so she was up for the spot of leader next.

Seasonbreeze finished what she was doing, and quickly came up to the deputy. "I'm ready." She paused for a second. "How about you?" She asked, curious to know if she was ready to be leader.

Shadowsong glanced at Seasonbreeze nervously. "I'm as ready as I will ever be. But I guess we should get going whether I'm ready or not." As she spoke, the deputy stood up and shoot out her pelt and started out into the territory.

Seasonbreeze nodded at the deputy. She knew that it was true, she would probably never be completely ready. She followed Shadowsong out into the territory.

Soon they arrived at Mothermouth. Shadowsong stared down into the mouth of the cave as her stomach started twisting into knots. Thankfully these trips were made without food. Taking a deep breath, she glanced back at Seasonbreeze. "Well, I guess I better go now..." She mewed uncertainly.

Seasonbreeze came up behind Shadowsong. The gaping mouth of Mothermouth was huge. "Yeah." Was all she could say.

She then turned back to the darkness of the cave before taking a few cautious steps in. Once inside the darkness, the cool, stillness of the air seemed to relax her as she made her way down through the tunnel. Soon the small tunnel opened up to a tiny cavern with the bright Moonstone sitting in the middle with the rays of the moon pouring down on it like liquid. Dazzled by the sight, Shadowsong stepped up to the stone and laid down next to it. After studying the rock, she finally touched her nose to it and closed her eyes, immediately falling into a deep sleep.

When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a strange place she had never seen before. In front of her stood nine cats, all of which she had seen before but it was Blackraven who stood closest to her. He gracefully stepped up to her and touched his nose to hers. "With this life, I give you courage to push through any situation." A surge of energy suddenly flowed through her before Blackraven stepped back.

The second cat to step up was Jaystar. "With this life, I give you leadership to guide your clan through the best and toughest of times."

Next to step up was Ebonyroot. Shadowsong gasped as she stared at the young medicine cat who seemed so full of life once again. Without a word, Ebonyroot touched noses with her. "With this life, I give you compassion to help any cat in need."

Next up was Rosethorn. "With this life, I give you love to build and keep relationships within your clan."

After her stepped up Snakefire. "With this life, I give you friendship to strengthen the bonds within your clan."

The sixth cat come forward was Sootpelt. "With this life, I give you strength to guide your clans through any dispute whether through battle or through words."

Up next was Raccoontail. "With this life, I give you knowledge to know what is best for your clan."

After Raccoontail was Shadowsong's own kit, Bitterkit. He touched her nose with his own tiny one. "With this life, I give you responsibility to be able to make the best choices."

Last of all was Ghoststar. She stepped up. "With this life, I give you protection to keep the clan I once had safe from any danger." She then stepped back and looked at Shadowsong. "Do well in leading your clan."
Shadowsong took one more look at everyone and nodded. "I will." As soon as she spoke, the strange world started to fade as each of the cats chanted, Shadowstar, Shadowstar...

Suddenly, she woke up with jolt of mixed emotions. She was happy that she was able to see the Starclan cats but it still pained her that they all weren't still here. Yet, there was a strange sense of comfort as if they were still there... which they were.
Without saying a word, she got up and exited the cave to find Seasonbreeze once more outside.

Seasonbreeze had been sitting in a crouched position waiting patiently for Shadowsong to come out. What she watched the black cat come out, she stood up. "Are you ready to leave....Shadowstar?" She asked. "Or, would you like something to eat?"

Shadowstar shook her head. "Let's just go home. I'm ready to sleep," She mewed wearily as she padded off towards Shadowclan.

Seasonbreeze nodded. "I understand." She was also tired, although not nearly as tired as she knew Shadowstar was.
