The coldness sets in

Lately,it was starting to get very cold,and some mornings frost covered everything.Illness comes with coldness,so Tawnypaw had been out collecting the last of the herbs that hadn't been killed by the frost.Already,two cats had caught white cough,but they recovered quickly.Alot of injurys come with the cold aswell,because the ground and river can become frozen and slippery,and some cats fall and hurt themselves.

But,this morning,the air in Tawnypaws den seemed even colder than usuall,and the light from the clearing was dazzling.Puzzled,Tawnypaw got up and padded outside,and was greeted by the crisp-coldness of Snow to her paws.Tawnypaw looked around.Everything was covered in snow or frost."Wow..." She mewed,dazzled by the snow.She seen wierd fog coming from her mouth when she spoke.This was her first snow,and she had only been told about it by the older cats in the clan.Some snow was lightly falling,and while Tawnypaw was deep in thought,her fur was given a light coating of snow.

Scarletpaw was already examining the snow as if it would hurt her. She leaned in to sniff it, and she quickly staggered back when a rush of cold hit her. She gave a loud hiss and noticed Tawnypaw. "Is this snow?" she asked, wiping her muzzle.

"Yes,this is snow.Isn't it brilliant?" Mewed Tawnypaw,who was slowly pacing around the clearing,getting used to it's cold touch.

"No," she snapped, furrowing her brow(?), her tail lashing. The apprentice steadily placed a dainty paw on the surface of the snow, narrowing her eyes. Slowly, her paw sunk, and she slowly treaded farther into the snow, on the tips of her paws, walking awkwardly towards Tawnypaw. Suddenly, she sneezed, her fur fluffing up as she did.

Shadowpaw walked out of the apprentace den stepping in cold white stuff."what?"she gasped as she shook the stuff off her paws." "eww i hate it."she said lashing her tail tord the apprentace den.

"Well,I think it is cool! Something different for a change!" She mewed,twitching her ears.She loved the 'crunch' sound when a cat padded on the snow.

Goldpaw leaped into the snow, landing on his paws, knee/elbow(?) deep in snow. "Come on, Scarletpaw!" He purred, running as fast as he could in the crunchy snow to his mate. Then he whispered so no-one else could hear, "This is like one of our dreams, remember? The white forest, but it fekt warmer in my dream than this." He brushed his tail along the ground quickly, sending the snow flying into the crisp air that surrounded the forest. He too saw the fog hang when he spoke, like he was making clouds by talking. The sky was a blue-grey colour and a few snowflakes started fluttering down from the sky, more and more following. Goldpaw's eyes twinkled with delight as the snow fell. "It's like the clouds are falling apart to make little snowflakes," he said, looking up at the falling snow. One snowflake landed on his nose, causing him to sneeze, which in turn, sent snowflakes from the ground to flutter up and back down again in the weak breeze.

Scarletpaw couldn't argue with that. She gave a small yawn and flicked a small tuft of snow at her mate. Her violet eyes glimmered with amusement as she watched him frolic through the snow. She pretended like she didn't do anything by lowering her head and acting cautious. And, when his back was turned, she flicked another ball of snow at him.

Goldpaw used his back legs to kick snow at Scarletpaw, then he raced off, laughing. He dived into a pile of snow and disappeared, a hole in the snow was all that was left, as well as the tip of his tail, which was straight because he was scared and stuck. "Help!" he tried syaing but it was muffled by the snow. He had dived into a burrow.

Scarletpaw flicked her ear, walking over to look at him. She dug him out, her paws scrabbling against the snow. She uncovered more of her friend and laughed. "You're so clumsy," she mused, clenching her teeth around his scruff to drag him out.

Goldpaw shook the snow from his pelt and smiled with embarassment at Scarletpaw. "I know!" he laughed, trying to keep his dignity from fading with embarassment.

With a single paw, she gave a thump to his head, pushing him into the snow. She hopped away as if she were a rabbit. Her tail swished as she hid in the deep snow. It was easy to find her, for her coat was black.

Goldpaw pounced on her playfully, rolling off and laying beside her, laughing happily.

Tawnypaw lay down,and tucked in her tail.She decided she would enjoy the cold weather on the ground.Then she felt a wierdness come apon her,and for that one second her eyes appeared to be blue."Why am I on the ground? I should be up,jumping around,enjoying the weather!" She mewed,but it didn't exactly sound like her.She then leaped up.Then her eyes went back to its normal colour."Wow.What happened there?" She mewed,a confused look on her face

Ebonyroot shivered outside, shaking a few snowflakes off her pelt. 'Everyone is just playing around, but with the snow rolling in, we should be working on getting as much prey as we can and gathering what herbs the frost has yet to touch...' she sighed. Silly 'youngins... Wait... Youngins'?!
StarClan, maybe she was just starting to get a little old. She flicked her tail, feeling chills go up and down her body. Her rib-caged showed, but she was still strong enough to sprint to fourtrees and back.... not that she wanted too.
The she-cat looked over at Tawnypaw and nodded her head in greeting, and then watched Scarletpaw and Goldpaw. iAt least their spirits are up.i she thought, smiling a little.
