Getting cold...

"Brr!" Mistpelt meowed to herself, fluffing up her fur against the wind as she walked down to the river. "Leaf-fall's a cold one this year." She made it to the riverbank and sat crouched at the edge, front right paw unsheathed. She saw a fish dart in the water. Just as she was about to strike, she flinched as she heard a noise and splashed the water with her paw. There was another rustle. "Who's there?" Mistpelt asked, looking around, fur wet.

Graypaw walked to the border making sure not to accidently cross it, "Hi Mistpelt!" Graypaw meowed happily as he fluffed out his fur, "It's getting really cold isn't it," Graypaw mewed quietly as he looked in the river, "Am I interupting anything?"

"Well, you just made me miss a fish, but no big deal." Mistpelt meowed, slightly annoyed that an apprentice startled her. She looked across the river at him. "So hows it goin', 'prentice?"

"It's going pretty good," Graypaw replied as he crouched down trying to avoid the winds cold breeze, "Why is it so cold out? It wasn't like this a few moon's ago,"

"Well, that's because it's Leaf-fall right now 'prentice." Mistpelt meowed, sitting down. She put her tail over her paws. "You probably don't remember the weather during your first few months. You probably only remember your first Newleaf, I assume." She meowed, smiling. "During leaf-fall, the leafs fall from the trees and it starts to get colder. Soon, it will start to snow. Then it will be leaf-bare. You'll know what that is when it happens." She purred.

"Well it sounds nice," Graypaw meowed as he sat up, "Although I miss the nice weather..."

"No need to fret. It will come back again." Mistpelt reassured him.

"But why does it get cold every few seasons?" Graypaw questioned as he tried to supress a shiver from the cold but it happened anyway.

"I don't know. I guess it just happens." Mistpelt meowed, shrugging.

"Would StarClan know the answer?" Graypaw asked Mistpelt as he looked up at the trees and saw the remaining leaves rustle.

"I don't even know if StarClan would know...." Mistpelt trailed off as she watched a leaf fall on the ThunderClan side and land on Graypaws nose.

Graypaw jumped when he felt the leaf on his nose. After it hit the ground Graypaw started jumping on it like it was prey and he just made a catch.

Mistpelt purred in amusement. "How many moons are you? You're acting like a kit!" She purred again.

Graypaw ignored the laughter and sat back down, "Well it's fun sometime's to try to forget about your responsibilities and have fun," Graypaw calmly replied as his tail moved back and forth and than finally stopped, "You should try it too," Graypaw said but he soon crouched down again to avoid another cold breeze of wind, "And I'm eleven Moons old,"

"Alright then. Who knows, you may become a warrior soon...but I may be wrong. I'm not your Clan leader." She purred.
