Talonkit's First Time Out of the Nursery

Talonkit woke up in her nest of soft moss. She looked around, and saw that all the other kits and queens were still asleep. Being careful not to wake any of them, she slid out of her nest and stepped quietly over to the exit of the nursery. No one would notice if she slipped outside for just a few minutes. Talonkit had never been outside of the nursery before, but she had been dying to see the camp forever. But, no matter how much she had wanted it, she was told she couldn't leave the nursery. Well, no one was there to stop her now. She slipped out of the nursery and gazed around in wonder. The camp was huge! She had never seen anything so big. There were cats everywhere, and so many scents to take in! She saw the fresh kill pile, and the elder's den and the warrior's and apprentice's dens. She padded towards the fresh kill pile, and tried to pull out a rabbit. The whole pile fell over. Great, her first time out of camp and she pulled the fresh-kill pile down. She tried putting the pile back up without being noticed. She, however, did not succeed.

Featherstar pouted simply at the small kit, and with a swish of her paw, scooped the pile back up into its previous glory. "Well little kit, what are yo doing so far from the nursery?" She asked, the small thing. If there was one thing Featherstar loved it was kits.

"Well, I wanted to explore. There's nothing to do at all in the nursery. It's sooo boring," Talonkit whined. "Please don't make me go back there! I can clean up the fresh-kill pile too!" Talonkit recognized the cat above her. It was the leader of her Clan. She was excited now. "You're Featherstar, right?" she questioned.

Featherstar cast a long shadow on Talonkit. "Yes, I am. How about I have you do something else. Do you think maybe that you can check all the moss in camp for thorns? I have all the apprentice's out hunting, so no one can." It was a measly task that didn't even need to be done, but Featherstar could remember her time in the nursery, so she made up an excuse for the kit to be out and about.

"Really? You want me to do a real apprentice's task? Wow! I'll do that!" Talonkit meowed. "I'll do that better than any apprentice could! And then, when I'm an apprentice, I'll be as good as a warrior!" Talonkit was very happy her leader had told her to do something so cool.
"Can I start now?" She asked.

"Of course you can." Raccoontail mewed coming out of the nursery. "Hello Featherstar."

"Okay!" Talonkit mewled. Then she realized Raccoontail had said that. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you I left..."

"It's fine i was sneaking out of the nursery all the time when I was a kit." She mewed

"Really?" Talonkit never would have thought her mother would have sneaked out. "That's awesome! I'm gonna go do my apprentice task now!" She bounded off to the elder's den and to start looking through the moss for thorns.

Icepaw padded out of his den, yawning widely. He hadn't been getting much sleep because of his strange dream that kept happening. It comes with being a medicine cat... a voice in his head said.

"Hello Raccoontail and Featherstar. Are you well?" he asked the queen,"do you think you need anything?" he asked, ready to go get what he needed.

"Oh and Featherstar, I would like to speak to you." he added.

"I am fine Icepaw." Raccoontail mewed

Fallensoul blinked and watched wordlessly as the new kit conversed with the others. Who is this new kit? he wondered. He'd make a good apprentice.

Featherstar nodded, and smiled at Talonkit. "Oh hello Racoontail, Icepaw. What can I do for you?" She asked the apprentice, flicking away the prospect of her son starring at Talonkit away.
