Birth of Wolfkit

Raccoontail sat in the middle of the camp. Suddenly she had a sharp pain. My kits are coming! She walked to the nursery. Another sharp pain came and she let out a yowl

Ebonyroot, who had been with Icepaw in camp, heard Raccoontail's yowling. She ran after the WindClan queen into the nursery.
"Lay down." she said gently. "Try to relax."

Raccoontail did as instructed, but tensed as a sharp pain came.

Ebonyroot shuffled around the den, searching for something to help her.
"Here, bite down on this." She meowed, handing her a stick. "Push when you're ready."

Firekit peered out of her nest. "More denmates???" she mewed. She looked over and saw Ebonyroot and Raccoontail.

Raccoontail bit down on the stick and pushed. She got a quick breath and pushed again. A little gray kit slid out.

Ebonyroot bent down and nipped the air sack, allowing the small one to take it's first breathe. She hastily licked it backwords to get the blood flowing and picked him up, setting him by Raccoontail's belly.
"It would appear so." she smiled at Firekit, "How are you feeling Raccoontail?"

"Better than i felt earlier" She mewed and licked the little kit on the head. "I will name her Wolfkit"

"That's a wonderful name." She purred, "Oh!" Ebonyroot slipped out of the den and came back an old supply of Borage leaves. "Eat these. They will help supply your milk."

Raccoontail ate the leaves. "They taste bitter." She mewed

Featherstar poked her head into the nursery. "My my, WindClan is growing so quickly!" She purred.

"Hello Featherstar." Raccoontail mewed

"Raccoontail." She acknowledged sweetly. "This is a beautiful kit, what is her name?" The lithe she-cat asked.

"This is Wolfkit" She mewed

"She's very cute. I hope she wont mind being in the nursery with no friends. Icekit will soon be an apprentice." She purred.
