Nerd Sings: 20 Something (Blazefang)

Blazefang had a lot of time to think these days.

Alone in the elders’ den, she pondered her life. Through the many long moons with Dayquill by her side, she hadn’t allowed herself much time to think about her first love, Ryepaw. They were buddies as kits, with cute little kitten crushes. As they grew older, they trained together, bragged about each other’s accomplishments, and eventually fought the Dark Forest together. Blazepaw had been so sure they would be mates. And then, when she was twenty-something moons old, everything changed. Specklepaw, her ever-present shadow, was dead. And Ryepaw disappeared without even a goodbye. Now, in the cool dark of the elders’ den, Blazefang found herself mulling it over through song.

Finally, she shook herself out of it. Her life was here, now. And it wasn’t over. To nobody in particular, she mewed,

Who wants that? You know?
So that's what I think about control, and that's my story
And I'm sticking to it”

And she could almost hear her younger self replying,
”That was beautiful Blazefang, that was perfect.”

This is only part of the song and I replaced some of the words to be warrior based

Swiftheart had just returned from a hunt and had some free time - there was hardly anyone around right now. It felt like it was just her and her good friend Snowfoot in camp and she waved playful as always as she started to hum a little bit of the familiar words before beginning singing softly

Snowfoot smiled as Swiftheart began singing the familiar song. She couldn’t help herself and joined in on the second verse.

This is such a fun topic idea and I am glad I got some more snowfoot and swiftheart time.

Interestingly enough, I found out about this song from Xaan on her Poppyshine playlist and really liked it.
