Poppyshine
The morning air tasted of salt to Poppyshine when she awoke. The taste left an odd effect on her tongue, but she did not fetch any prey to wash it out of her mouth. She instead went about her usual duties: giving assignments, speaking with a few warriors, and checking on the nursery. Today would be a special day for one of the lucky kits, and Poppyshine made sure to keep her smile in place when around them.
When it was later in the day for enough cats to be around, she moved to the Willow Branch and her voice, which had slowly grown stronger over the past couple of days, sounded into the air. “All cats old enough to catch their own fish, please gather for a Clan meeting!”
Another meeting, and once again Elmkit was there, wide eyed and bushy tailed. Quite literally, actually. Elmkit definitely looked.... poofy, to say the least. Not that he minded. Elmkit wasn't really known for being well-groomed. Most cats had never required it of him, so it had never been a thing. And he turned out just fine!
Still, he gave all his attention to Poppyshine, with the biggest grin on his face. Whose ceremony would this one be?
"speech."
I would give up everything in the world for you. —— info.
Creekkit, with her fur groomed well for likely only one of two times in her life, excitedly trotted to the Willow Branch. She plopped down next to Elmkit, with a grin on her face. The grey kit couldn't help but feel like today was her day, she'd finally get to be an apprentice and see more than just the camp she was raised in. She'd finally learn more for herself! Her gaze was fixed onto Poppyshine, excitement radiating off of her.

Poppyshine watched Creekkit approach her friends. She seemed eager and excited and Poppyshine couldn’t help but lift in spirits upon seeing her. Poppyshine beckoned the young kit forward and announced, “Creekkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to be apprenticed.” Her eyes rose to look at all of the cats gathered. Her heart hurt a little bit at seeing all the cats there, but also all those who were missing. “From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Creekpaw. Your mentor shall be Cindersky whose kindness and strength will be passed onto you.”
She stepped down from the Willow Branch so the new apprentice and mentor could complete the ceremony on their own. Poppyshine stepped back into the crowd to join in the cheers.
Cindersky had ended up trodding out to the ceremony, just for something new. Well, routine-- But new considering she had not done it in a long time. She watched from the warriors den, or medicine den depending on if she was visiting Littlesplash or a routine check-up, but this time she had sat to listen.
She paid no mind, watching the little gray kitten be called up. It was like a mirror. She blinked slowly, the lilt of Poppyshines usual spiel drifting past her ears, and then she heard her name. Her head snapped up like a shot, a cold clutch taking her chest and she stared at the deputy for a moment too long. And then she looked back at the newly named apprentice. She pulled herself up to her feet, leaden as the were, and tredded over to Creekpaw.
She leaned down, and feather-light tipped her nose to the apprentices. It was a foreign movement to her-- Aside from when she had done it with Perchstar all those moons ago. "We will start when you are ready," She said quietly, forgetting how to speak loudly in how little she had spoken since... Maybe this would be good for her. "We can take it as slowly or as quickly as you like. Come find me either at the warriors den or medicine den when you are ready to go, okay?"

Poppyshine had confirmed it. It was her day, her time to get her new name. She would finally get to train, bring her ideas to the clan, and best of all, see the territory! Creekpaw trotted to Cindersky happily, a spring in her step that seemed absent in her mentor's. Touching noses, the grey apprentice tilted her head slightly. Slowly? Slow wasn't as good as fast, not when it came to learning about being a warrior. She'd find new ways, better ways for them to live. They'd be the most prosperous clan ever! At least, once Creekpaw learned the basics. "You'll see me soon, then." Even her quiet voice couldn't help but betray her excitement.
