PostImplementing Site Changes [ONGOING]

Hey, everyone!

The Staff Team wanted to address concerns about lack of concrete things being pushed out on the site for the time being. This includes mentions of a slower response time in the #help-desk channel on Discord - which we have still been working to address quickly - but also includes a lack of immediate patches or changes to the site.

As of right now, we are in the middle of a massive restructure to the site, including the addition of many new systems that were not currently in place and should have already been implemented.

A major part of this process involves creating internal regulations from the ground up, starting from inside the staff team. During the current phase, there isn't going to be a lot we're able to share publicly until the entirety of it is ironed out and ready to be properly implemented. A lot of this is being worked on daily, and will be shared with the site when completed.

To give some more context as to why this is necessary in the first place: WCC was started in the late 2000s, and for a large portion of its life it was run mostly by kids and teenagers. This means there isn't a ton of existing structure to work from or fall back on, and most of what once existed has been lost to time at some point over the last decade and a half. Many of the previous staff teams have worked hard on additions to the site and had great ideas, and we have no intention of doing away with those things; it's just that they also need to be reorganized and, in some cases, reworked.

This is just the first phase in a huge undertaking that will revamp, reorganize, and add much-needed references and mechanics.

The intention is to start by adding internal structure and systems to staff, something that should have been done several years ago. Once that is done, we plan on assessing the state of all our teams (Staff, Mini-mods, Beta Testers) before moving on to the next phase.

Rest assured that while your feedback is not immediately being answered, the team is noting and saving all ideas to be considered when it is time to work on revising those mechanics. Our staff chat now involves an "idea dump" to log and track all ideas (previously done via the feedback form), this way they don't get lost as they have in the past.

Please be patient with us, as this is a massive and much-needed project - and one that will help the current staff team, as well as all future teams, to make this site the best that it can be.

We've also been working to pace ourselves during this undertaking in an effort to avoid burnout. Setting concrete dates and deadlines for things like meetings and decision-making is helping us find a good volunteer/life balance - one that allows us to still have time to devote to ourselves and to our lives outside of WCC - and it's allowing us to make sure we can continue moving forward. If you're in the Discord, you'll begin to see Events where staff are going to meet and dedicate time to working on large site changes!

As an addendum, the Anonymous Comments & Suggestions form has been closed until further notice. While we are open to good faith comments and suggestions, as well as constructive criticism, we have instead received responses and feedback that is not only not helpful but outright hurtful to others; violating the first rule of our Code of Conduct ('be kind to other members'). Since we have previously issued warnings that bad faith criticism will be ignored, the next step is to close the anonymous forums that are currently being misused to issue personal attacks.

For the time being, the Comments & Suggestions subforum on site remains open for sharing feedback publicly, and you're always free to DM any member of staff directly with comments or concerns!

This is very exciting and I'm happy to see staff working hard to improve things on WCC!! You guys are doing great! I'm looking forward to seeing these systems implemented.

Remember, staff are just volunteering their time to make WCC possible, and without them there would be no WCC! The way I see it, there's no need to send hateful feedback when they could easily just walk away and close down the site. That is with any website or community. Obviously that's not what we want, so it's best to stand together, and work to find ways to collaborate and communicate in a constructive manner, so we can all continue to enjoy doing what we love: roleplaying Warriors together!! ❤

Site Change: 3/15/2024

The way to obtain your T4 to T5 Apprentice-related requirements has been given an update in lieu of introducing Assessments!

You may now obtain them by doing the following:
- "Battle with your apprentice at any tier, OR host a battle assessment with any apprentice at tier 4 or as deputy/leader"
- "Hunt with your apprentice at any tier, OR host a hunting assessment with any apprentice at tier 4 or as deputy/leader"

This is to assist mentors whose apprentices may speed through reqs without them or choose to take an assessment!

Happy ranking!
