Poppyshine

Poppyshine lifted herself onto the Willow Branch. She struggled to find much joy in yet another apprentice ceremony. Rather than something to be celebrated, Poppyshine couldn’t help but feel like she was setting the kit up for death with war just around the corner. She tried to push that morbid thought out of her mind and smiled instead as she called, “All cats old enough to catch their own fish, please gather for a clan meeting!”

Poppyshine

Troutkit appeared in an instant ,as though he had teleported. He looked so eager and excited that Poppyshine’s worries about sending him off to war momentarily faded away. She smiled down at the eager kit and gave a nod as if to say, Yes, that’s right, this ceremony is for you!

“Troutkit,” she continued, “you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Troutpaw. Your mentor shall be Scorchlight, whose loyalty and strength will be paramount to your training.” Troutpaw was overeager and did not always choose his words correctly, from what she had been told. Scorchlight would hopefully be a calming presence for him and steer him in the right direction to becoming a mature cat ready for warriorhood.
