Minnowkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The cry of the deputy pierced the air of their small clearing and she knew, she knew what was to happen tonight. Quickly tripping over her brother, the small silver-haired kit stumbled up and outside the warmth of her family's closeness, quickly straightening herself out when her footing was once again found. She could hear the attention of the other cats around her breaking from their original conversations and goals, focusing on the  leader scanning the growing crowd, looking for someone. Minnowkit, fluffed against the wind chill, pressed her paws against the nervous flicking tail, forcing it into submission, her claws raking slightly in the thin flesh as she kneaded out the nerves of what would come this night.

Who would be first, Jaykit? Myself? What if this meeting isn't even for this, what if it's for something else and I'm getting my hopes up? What if those creatures had found us again an-- No, that thought process wasn't allowed for this night. Not with the searching gaze in Riverclan's deputy's eyes. Not with the soft happiness, tinged with stress, that showed there. Tonight, no matter what, would be a night of celebration for her family. They had already lost too much. If I manage to go before Jaykit, I am NEVER letting him live this down.

Being doused under a lump of snow wouldn't have been enough to rid the young feline's face of the large smile that appeared at the deputy's declaration. Her mother! Remembering the severity of the ceremony and the conditions the clans were currently in, Minnowpaw attempted to scrunch her face back into submission, but there was no hiding the taps of her feet as she stood to go greet her mother, her mentor, as an official apprentice for Riverclan.

"You're gonna teach me things mamma." the silver cat whispered softly, pressing her freezing nose against her mothers, and then against the pelt that adjourned her. "You're gonna teach me to be a wonderful warrior."
