Blackkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Shadowclan's kits seemed to be growing exceptionally well lately. It filled the tom with a certain kind of joy that threatened to burst out of his chest, but he would settle for letting it tinge the words that fell from his mouth. "Let all cats old enough to silently stalk the shadows gather by the lakeside for a clan meeting!" It felt strange sounding off with such a joyous call when so many of his clanmates were still ill, but he couldn't hide it today.

As he heard those words, Blackkit immediately sprung out of the nursery and headed to the place where the ceremonies and news always took place. The soon-to-be apprentice tried to keep his steps as small as possible in hopes of masking his inner excitement that threatened to spill and ruin his usually calm self. He sat on the snow-covered ground, the coldness of it sending a small shiver through the tom's body but he chose to ignore it for now since today might be the day when he would finally become an apprentice

As the kit found his way into the gathering mass of his fellow clanmates Sablestrike couldn't fully contain his smile. He hid it well, but that jitter had betrayed the young kit's attempt at seeming calm. "Blackkit, please step forward!" Sablestrike paused to allow Blackkit to do as he was told. "You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day until you earn your warrior name you shall be known as Blackpaw, and I will be your mentor. I look forward to teaching you all I know." The deputy padded towards the newly named apprentice and touched noses with him. Another apprentice to try and mold into the perfect warrior. His efforts with Sunflare had been exceptional, but Hazelpaw... He would make sure Blackpaw didn't turn out like her. "Go grab something to eat, we'll start your training after you're done."
