Brightpaw's Moonstone Journey

While it was a little unconventional and not at all traditional, at least Starclan hadn't abandoned them. Yet.

Sure there were many instances cats had been pointing out that were quite troubling and were understandably cause for concern. But Echosong's faith in his ancestors stood strong. He had always believed Starclan had led him to Thunderclan, chose his path, and would choose their future. Everything happened for a reason...they just didn't know it yet.

Echosong tapped Brightpaw on the shoulder with his tail, hoping he wasn't going to scare him and he offered a smile, "Tonight you will speak with Starclan. Are you ready?" the medicine cat meowed.

Brightpaw felt guilt seep into his pelt. He felt miserable, breaking the warrior code twice. How rude, pathetic, and careless was he? He honestly just needed a well-deserved break. But if he wanted to be helpful to ThunderClan and prove his loyalty still lay in ThunderClan, he had to become a warrior.

"I’m ready," he meowed, reassuring himself. His gaze locked on Echosong, waiting to hear any other words from the she-cat. At least he still thought of Berrypaw; that was a she-cat that warmed his heart. He felt happy for once, staring at Echo again, smiling back at her, ready to speak with StarClan if they even trusted him after he met a SkyClan cat. They were on the brink of war. Would he fight Berrypaw? He looked down towards the puddle of water, slowly touching it with his nose. He fell into a deep slumber. Suddenly, he woke up—not near Echosong, but somewhere else. "So, this is what dreaming with StarClan feels like", he meowed silently, twisting through the darkness

On occasion, Batbite enjoyed spooking apprentices. That was one of the benefits to being dead: she could engage in mischief with the living. Not that she stopped playing tricks on her fellow StarClan cats, of course--it was fun to hide harmless but irritating things in someone's nest. As the twisting darkness gave way to a starlit landscape, the small black she-cat leapt forward and landed right in front of Brightpaw; noses hardly a paw's-length apart.

"Hello, Brightpaw," she greeted, inflecting just a hint of ominous StarClan cat into her voice. Then, stepping back to reveal her shimmering form and glittering eyes, she spoke in her normal, much more casual and easygoing tone: "My name's Batbite, once-warrior of ThunderClan. Got any questions for me?"
