Scorchpaw swam through the river. Leaves fell from the trees, cluttering up the ground. She peered past Sunningrocks and saw ThunderClan. She dug her claws into a Sunningrock and climbed up, using it for leverage. She skimmed the entirety of Sunningrocks. "Maybe I should catch some prey," she muttered.
Scorchpaw dropped into the low crouching stance Hawkshriek had taught her. The lush ferns of the riverbed blocked her vision, yet she could still get a clear image of what was in front of her. A fish was swimming near the shore. She unsheathed her claws and cautiously crept over towards it, swiping her claws through the weeds and ferns and towards the river. Had she killed it?
She pulled back her forepaw, which she had used to swipe at the fish, and padded to the spot. She found the fish. "RiverClan would do good with an extra catch of prey," she mumbled. The sun gleamed across her pelt, and she basked in it, enjoying the sunbeams shining down at the ground and on her fur. She should enjoy it now. Leaf-bare wouldn't have this kind of sunlight. She grumbled at the thought of Leaf-bare. It was lonely alone at the Sunningrocks. No one was there to keep her company. She swished her tail at the thought of this, but then remembered she was hunting, and the Clan had no time to rest. Every cat was desperate for food. She shuddered and broke out of thought, staring back at the river into her reflection. Then she dipped her paw into it to see if the fish was dead.
