Poppyshine
Ceremonies had been scarce in RiverClan, which made them seem even more special than they already are. Poppyshine prepared herself for a new ceremony she would give and climbed up onto the Willow Branch. She announced, “Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting!” Her eyes scanned along towards the nursery in search of the lucky kit who was soon going to join the apprentice den.
Scorchkit's eyes glinted with excitement; she could barely hide her joy. Her smile spread ear to ear, and she quickly raced towards the willow branch in preparation for her apprentice ceremony. She was proud of the fact that from this day onwards, she would be an apprentice. She had been hoping for this for months, never thinking the time would come, but here it was!
She flattened her shoulders and sighed to herself, trying to hide how ecstatic she was. She gave the deputy a warm smile before joining her at the willow branch.

Poppyshine met Scorchkit’s excited gaze and she mirrored the young kit’s smile back at her. With the kit in question confirmed to be present, she began the ceremony properly.
“Scorchkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time or you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Scorchpaw.” She beckoned her closer so she could be proudly displayed before her clan. “Your mentor shall be Hawkshriek, who shall show you his loyalty and strength as one of our senior members of the clan.”
Poppyshine met the eyes of her son and smiled at him. She stepped down from the branch to join in the celebrations while Hawkshriek and Scorchpaw could get acquainted.

Scorchpaw, still possessed of her smile, cautiously leaped down from the willow branch. It was the day she was finally considered an apprentice! Her eyes darted around the camp in search of Hawkshriek, to greet her new mentor and introduce herself.

Hawkshriek lifted his head, ears swiveling towards the Wet Rock where his name had been called out. He blinked in surprise, spotting the newly-named 'Scorchpaw' who had already risen to approach him to introduce herself and greet him—not having expected himself to be chosen before.
With a slightly awkward, yet happy smile, he lifted himself from where he sat and approached the she-cat, touching noses with her in greeting. "Congratulations on becoming an apprentice, Scorchpaw," He purred, "I trust we'll become close really soon. For now, take some time to rest and explore the apprentice's den. You have free time until tomorrow morning, where I'll lead you out on your first training session: hunting."
