Rainkit had grown into a rather large cat, even bigger than some current apprentices. They knew that at any time they would be forced to leave the nursery, which had grown too little for them... if there were more kits. Since Rainkit was the only one, he had enjoyed the freedom of the den alone and since they weren't an apprentice, the cat could slack around and sleep as much as they wanted. The rest of the clan brought them food so there was no incentive to work at all! Thus, when the deputy called them, Rainkit wasn't particularly over-excited. They had to become an apprentice in order to live in Riverclan, but the pale-furred cat wouldn't complain if their ceremony was delayed.
The cat slowly stood up and stretched its body, letting out a long yawn. Well, I guess it couldn't last forever... They thought while crossing the nursery's entrance. Slowly but steadily, Rainkit made his way to the meeting point and as soon as their eyes saw Sprucebark, they sat down next to him.
