Dewkit was a blue-eyed she-cat with light grey and white, medium-length fur. A slightly darker stripe ran down her back and tail. She was born in late leaf fall to her mother and father who were proud warriors under Ivystar’s leadership. Adventurous and confident, she found great joy in her kit-hood playing around the island camp with Doekit, Sweetpaw and Vixenstep.
Once she reached six-moons she was apprenticed to Lilytail who had been a gentle yet firm mentor. From the beginning, Dewpaw struggled with the idea of fighting other cats. Preferring the idea of peaceful resolutions more than the loss of fur or injury. Unfortunately, shortly after becoming an apprentice, the War of Sunningrocks between ThunderClan’s Blizzardstar and RiverClan’s Ivystar began.
Concern urged her to fight Nightpaw at Sunningrocks for her Clan. The desire to protect her clanmates and ensure their safety outweighed her hesitation. Though she didn’t win her battle, the Clan was able to secure the territory… at a grievous cost. The death of the ThunderClan apprentice Thistlepaw had deepened the tensions, along with the capture of Honeyspark and Lionspark.
Dewpaw’s concerned nature led her to become more than just a faithful and loyal apprentice. Her confidence in battle shaken by her loss, Dewpaw chose to disavow combat against other cats. Instead, she focused on providing for her clan by helping on hunting patrols and driving off predators. The unity of her Clan was deeply important to her, and it led her to make choices that were sometimes questioned but were always something she saw as deeply important.
It started with Otterleap after he killed Thistlepaw on the battlefield. Though the death of the apprentice was lamentable, she chose to look past it. Instead, she offered him a fresh-kill and the comfort of company. The next would be a ThunderClan apprentice, Flickerpaw. Surrendered to RiverClan for the death of one of their warriors, she decided to help the young apprentice.
Eventually, her growing skills became visible enough that she was able to pass her assessment with flying colors. Ivystar, in honor of her dignity and the strength of her character, was given the name Dewshine.
Dewshine’s sympathy and kindness would become more prevalent in her warrior years. Even at the cost of her reputation. Her mercy on Flickerpaw would lead to a lasting rivalry between her and Silverfang.
She would eventually be given her apprentice, Flurrypaw, whom she began to train diligently. Dewshine was both thorough in her training, and fair. Taking on the young apprentice as though she were her kit. Ensuring that she would be prepared for as much as she could… and in the process, stumbling on a former ShadowClan tom, Gingerstripe.
Curious about the tom, she would meet him secretly near the Beech Copse. That curiosity soon turned into something far more. A relationship grew steadily between the two until eventually, Gingerstripe returned to the camp with Dewshine, and they admitted that they had become mates.
The disloyal action led to many questions and accusations. Yet Dewshine was determined to not let it keep her down. Supporting Flurrypaw from the sidelines, and working diligently throughout her pregnancy to continue serving her clan faithfully. Though they were ordered apart, Gingerstripe was allowed to do his best to earn a place in the clan. Eventually managing to do so, just before the kits were born.
Dewshine was a loyal and devoted mother. Constantly there for her family. While the kits grew, she became a mentor once more to Robinpaw. Ready to teach the young cat how to become a warrior when dark times once again fell onto RiverClan.
The threat of a rogue group led by a cat named Lichenmask brought danger to the forest. Dewshine fought hard at her clan’s side to help drive off the invading rogues. Desperate to keep the peace of her home. Despite her best efforts, her kit Firepaw and the cat she had helped so long ago, Flamewish, did not survive.
The pain of the loss was shattering to Dewshine, who spent many moons recovering. The pain of the loss eventually led her to Silverfang, who had been on the wrong side of the conflict. Eventually leading to murder. Dewshine’s forgiving nature once again took hold as she forgave her old enemy shortly before she would eventually pass.
Dewshine would eventually have more kits. With Gingerstripe at her side, she was able to see Blossomstream and Dappleshine grow into warriors. Age would begin to slowly catch up to her, leading her right front leg to become nerve-damaged in a falling accident. A few short moons later, a great flood swept through the camp. Taking both her and her mate to StarClan.
