Poppyshine


Poppyshine recalled when Scarletpaw had been ready to become an apprentice, and how bouncy and excitable he had been. Now it was time for his sister to earn her own apprentice name. Poppyshine had not spent much time at all with the little kit, but she did not seem as enthusiastic as her overly-excitable brother. Poppyshine was happy to see that RiverClan still continued to have a balance of energy levels across their clanmates.

She rose to the Willow Branch and called, “Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting!” She looked for Violetkit, hoping to encourage her over from the nursery if she was not already hurrying out to do so.

The day had arrived much sooner than Violetkit anticipated. Her brother did his best to give her a leg up on training. Perhaps that would give her a chance to become a warrior in record time...! Finally free of her mother's persistent tongue, Violetkit scurried away. She slowly approached the front of the tree. Her dark eyes wandered up to Poppyshine, who she didn't know well enough. But the patient and kind look on the older cat's face made any nervousness (not that she had any...!) vanish. Doing her best to match Poppyshine's calm demeanor, the kit settled into a sit and waited with a gently flicking tail

With Violetkit at the ready, Poppyshine smiled and lifted her chin to begin. “Violetkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time or you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Violetpaw.” Violetpaw seemed to be a quieter cat, one that kept to herself, save for time spent with her energetic brother. She did not seem like she would be a cat that caused trouble, so Poppyshine was happy giving the responsibility to one of her dear friends. “Your mentor shall be Kitespring, whose patience and kindness will make for a long and healthy mentorship.”

She stepped down from the Willow Branch and stepped to the side to join in the celebrations while the new apprentice and mentor became aquainted.
