Whinchatpaw stared at the river , willing himself not to look at his leg. He had struggled to come to terms with the fact that his hind leg wouldn't ever truly heal. There was earnest longing in his voice when he responded, "I can't wait to become a warrior either... You were always one step ahead of me, flower."

Littleflower looked at him with a sigh. She didnt know what to say to him so she just continued to have her head near him in comfort. She knew he was behind cause of his injury and she was ahead cause hers wasnt as bad. Littleflower wished he could be a warrior as great as they dreamed when kits.

Seeing his friend come closer, Whinchatpaw leaned in and did the same. The two had their heads together, sitting side by side. Embracing the peaceful night, listening to the night bugs and gazing at the stars. Maybe staying like this forever would be okay.

Littleflower looked up as the moon was now near the horizon and the sun was starting to come up. "Come on, lets head back." she mewed and slowly got to her paws, wincing at her stiff scar. She made sure he was okay before walking back to camp with him.

Somehow the moon had already made its trek across the sky and the sun was now peeking over the horizon. Over already? Rays of sunlight begun to stretch through the clouds, brightening the navy skies into a paler blue. Soon, everyone at camp would be up and about. Littleflower echoed his thoughts and Whinchatpaw hesitantly got to his paws.

This night has gone by too quickly...

Together, side by side, the pair trudged back into the trees. The serene memories of the night, left in the wake of their pawsteps but not to be forgotten.
