Good Morning, Patrol! [Open]

It was a beautiful morning, if Acornstem did say so herself. The sun had only recently risen but she had taken it upon herself to lead the first hunting patrol of the day after she had finished assigning everybody else to their tasks for the day. It wouldn't do to have idle paws - she may have new responsibilities but making others hunt in her stead would never be one of them! "Alright, I think this is a good spot!" she called out to her patrol as she came to a stop in the clearing, tasting the air. "Fan out, but be sure to stay close and don't hesitate to call out if you run into trouble!" With that, she swished her tail as a motion for them all to separate as she turned and tried to locate one of the prey she had smelled - before her eyes fell onto the green skin of a lizard clinging to a tree.

Lizard was far from her favorite prey but she wasn't going to turn her nose up at it, not when another Clanmate might favor it. Dropping into a crouch, she carefully stalked her way over before making her leap - a paw slamming into the lizard's back to pin it before she killed it with another quick swipe. Pulling back her paw, she watched as it limply fell to the ground before her and she closed her eyes - thanking Starclan for the prey's life before she leaned down to pick it up and padded back to find a spot to hide it until they were done for the morning.

Lichenwing trotted close behind Acornstem as they made their way deeper into ThunderClan territory. It hadn't been light out long enough for the heat to really build up, and the dark tom was eager to get into the hunt, so when the new deputy called out for them to split up, he did so without hesitation.

Moving through the underbrush, Lichenwing searched for scents... and when he found the trail of a mouse, he followed it, creeping along until it was in his sights. When the mouse turned its back to him, Lichenwing took the opportunity to surge forward, swiping for it... and catching it in his claws. He brought it in with a sweep of his paw and dispatched it quickly with a bite.

Sageroot stood perfectly still, eyes glazed over as she listened. Perhaps she looked strange, but the fawn she-cat had learned that her sharp hearing was her best way around her lack of smell. A rustling caught her attention and she began stalking towards the sound.

She had the mouse within moments. Easy.
