Blazing flames and startled flight[C]

Copperlark shifted her paws nervously while she waited for her senior's arrival. Firefly had probably seen her little performance by the fresh-kill pile, and if she didn't she would have heard from a clanmate. News travelled so quickly in the clan, it felt almost suffocating. The small tortoiseshell couldn't see how the ginger warrior would not comment on the incident, and if there was one thing she loathed it would be having to hear about her wrongdoings from another cat. She knew what she did, there was no need to shove it in her face time and time again.

Stalling to pick a bramble from one of her paws, Firefly glanced at the calico who'd been waiting for her to arrive: even just by looking at Copperlarks back, she could tell the she-cat had other things on her mind than their upcoming hunt.

Russet paws bounded up behind a nervous Copperlark, the older molly clearing her throat to let the younger know she had finally arrived. "If you don't want to be here, you can go home." She wouldn't wait to see whether or not Copperlark listened.

ear perked as she caught the sound of a creature rustling through the green foliage: a red-chested bird. Plump. Crouching low, she waiting till its back was completely turned before lunging forward and landing squarely on its back. A quick bite to the head and it was ready to bring home.

Copperlark flinched as Firefly's voice rang out. Great Starclan, why was it so loud? The forest seemed more crowded than ever, and there were so many scents she was starting to lose track of which was her clanmates'. The tortoiseshell trailed after the older warrior, ears pinned back while she awkwardly navigated the forest ground. While the ginger she-cat was off hunting other prey, Copperlark darted away to a more open area. Her ears pricked for the slightest of sounds, the warrior soon caught sight of a rabbit. Perfect!

The tortoiseshell ran towards the rabbit, long legs taking her in strides until she was nearly on top of the prey. Copperlark bit the rabbit's neck, killing it swiftly before carrying it back to the patrol.

Firefly nodded in acknowledgment of the fine catch, though her brow was scrunched in irritation. "Something on your mind, Copperlark? If so, say it now. Your nervous shuffling is starting to irk me."

Copperlark froze at the she-cat's harsh words. "Nothing," She mewed instictively, so used to saying the word that it came like second nature to her. Which was mouse-brained, because obviously it wasn't nothing. "I'm just worried about my brother is all," She added under her breath, though her words barely made sense. Especially from Firefly's point of view.

The exasperated sigh that escaped the russet she-cat had enough force to make her sit down. She wouldn't admit it, but Copperlarks outburst had reminded Firefly of herself - minus the fighting in camp. She had also struck her sister, Murkyripple, in a fit of rage. Although on accident and for a whole other reason. But she had attacked her own nonetheless. Sorrys weren't shared between the two, either. And that still incessantly nagged at her thoughts. "Yet you're out here with me." She didn't spare the younger warrior a single glance as her eyes carefully scanned her surroundings.

"Either you're lying to me, or you're admitting to being a coward."

It was confirmation that she had been right as silence filled the air and Copperlark immediately turning tail once again. "Careful who you turn you back against in this forest." Was all she had to say to the sounds of pawsteps padding away.

Firefly would carry both of their catches back to camp, as it seemed Copperlark's thoughts were not for ThunderClan.
