unnecessary thoughts [OPEN to TC]

A large red tom sat outside the bustling ThunderClan camp within the branches of a nearby tree, basking in the cool shade the canopies provided, paws dangling over the branches edge. He watched the clan cats come and go, a slight pang of sadness eating at him slowly: this was not his home. He wanted to go home. His friends and family were not here.

A growl erupted from his throat in irritation. There was nothing he could do about this feeling unless he made it back home for real. "You!" He called to one of the few cats coming and going, not caring who answered. He might as well use one of these cats to pass the time.

When Redpaw stepped out of camp to run a little errand, eyes cast low for fresh moss, he hadn't expected a voice to call out to him from above. "Oh! Hank! What's up? Other than you, I guess." The bigger tomcat looked to be in a sour mood, although that didn't faze Redpaw in the slightest. Whenever he looked at one of the strange, large cats that had recently joined ThunderClan, Redpaw's instinct to challenge them was sent a-tingling. He wanted to know just how strong these cats were, but held himself back a bit. He didn't want to cause any trouble his mom would have to deal with later. She already had enough on her paws as of late. And yet, and yet...

Attention successfully grabbed, Hank lept from his resting place, kicking up dust as he landed. "We spar?" He meowed simply. This cat looked young, but what could be a better age to prepare for a battle-filled future? "I let... you.. hit first." Though it came out slow, Hank felt proud that he managed a full sentence in the cats irritating tongue.

Not waiting for an answer, he turned his back to the young tom to find a suitable place to spar: the sandy area he'd seen them use before where he stood expectantly.

The apprentice was a bit surprised to hear his own thoughts coming out of Hank's mouth, but he quickly recovered. He was pumped! "Wha- yeah! Yeah we'll spar!" Redpaw's tail whipped and twisted about excitedly while the ruddy tomcat searched for a good spot. When it seemed they were both ready, the ginger apprentice swayed back and forth, his eyes wide and gleaming as he thought of how to start this off. With a wordless battle cry the short tom launched forward, springing up and at the bigger cat's shoulders. Though he doubted he'd do much knocking over - Hank was huge after all - it felt good to be bold right out the gate!
