"Look alive, friends! Let's go get some herbs!" Howling his short announcement, Echopaw turned from camp to trot to the entrance. In the brief moment before cats began to join him in the clearing, he took a deep breath. This would be his first herb patrol that he would be leading without Fawnshine. He had been training long and hard, spending countless hours pouring over the herbs in their den. The apprentice licked the fur down on his chest and looked over his shoulder before pushing himself through the entrance.
In this moment of stillness, Echopaw allowed his eyes to droop. In a flash, he was met by intense visions of Pricklebush, the mysterious prints that were described to him by the patrol, and strange noises. It wasn't really a vision - more of a day night mare. A shudder ran through his spine and his claws instinctively flexed into the soil, "We should be careful, yes." The sound of his own voice suddenly brought him back down to the ground as he drew in a breath of crisp spring air. It was all just a nightmare. "Very careful." A worried look crossed his brow as he turned to the cats that had gathered around him, "Let's run along. If anyone else wants to join us, they'll catch up. It's spring, we should look for borage and burnet to help with the new queens, yes."
1: Nothing is found, better luck next time (or you can also have your character find deadly herbs) 2-3: Useful everyday herb (Borage, Burnet, Chamomile, Daisy) 4-5: Good herb (Chervil, Comfrey, Feverfew, Juniper, Lavender, Sorrel) 6: Great herb (Chickweed, Chicory Root, Coltsfoot, Tansy)

The moment Acornstem heard the call, she knew she couldn't pass up this opportunity. The distance between her and Echopaw had been heartbreaking - he had been her first true friend but when she had lost the will to focus on her training with the disappearance of her mentor, then Echopaw changing paths to be that of a medicine cat... She was proud of him, she truly was but she had missed getting chances to speak to him when both of their duties kept them busy - he had so much training to worry about, she had patrols to do... Rarely did it seem they both had an opportunity to rest at the same time but it didn't matter!
For today she would make time for Echopaw...By helping him with his own duties. She caught up to him with a smile, slowing her pace before a soft frown crossed her muzzle spotting his shivering as something seemed to bother him as he repeated words softly to himself. "Of course we'll be careful," she responded, giving him a smile. "Any trouble rears its head and I'll protect you! Just as long as you are willing to patch me up afterwards," she added with a lighthearted chuckle. "Just lead the way and tell me what to look out for herb wise!"
