Poppyshine
Another of Perchstar’s children was ready to join her sisters in the apprentice den, and Poppyshine could not be happier. Just about every warrior had an apprentice and so doubling-up would be necessary, which is why she talked it over with Perchstar to determine who would be a good fit. When they had decided, she took to the Willow Branch and called out to begin. “Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting!” She watched for the gray-and-white kit so she could indicate to her that it was, indeed, her ceremony.

Her chest felt rather tight, even despite the way that her fur fluffed out with an oddly airy texture. For most Riverclan cats, their fur was dense, slick, oilier than the others of that forest. It was a product of her status as one of the younger faces in the clan that she hadn't yet fully developed that thicker fur, but the beginnings of a natural repellant towards water was certainly beginning to shine. Even then, she seemed much fluffier than most Riverclan cats, and it made her stick out as she was a dull pelt amongst a sea of shiny faces.
Still, she knew what this day was for. After all, her sisters had earned their names. It was about time she got her own, too. It was no fault of her mother's that she was farther behind, even as she herself had tried her hardest to meet her siblings where they were. She just simply felt the pressures of the world a bit more harshly than the other two, and it utlimately led Mistkit to be much more withdrawn.
At her auntie Poppy's call, though, that pressure seemed to come full-force as she took a spot beneath the branch. Her eyes were up, right at the familiar calico who had done her best to teach them quite a bit from the start. Mistkit was putting all of her trust in Auntie Shine to make sure she wasn't about to be given to a cat who would reprimand her constantly for not being as good as her sisters. After all, she was the daughter of the leader. Those perssures already rippled under her skin, appearing as nothing more than a hardened face that opted to hide all emotion rather than even attempt to feign one.
Poppyshine met Mistkit’s eyes and she knew that she was ready. She began, “Mistkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Mistpaw. I shall be your mentor, and I will do all I can to teach you what I know.” She stepped down from the branch and closed the space between them so she could touch her nose to her newest apprentice’s. Poppyshine was a bit nervous about having two apprentices, especially with them being two of Perchstar’s children, but she would do everything she could to ensure that they were well trained and taken care of. Her friend trusted her, and Poppyshine would do everything to fulfill that trust. In a softer voice she murmured, “I will take you and your sister out for training tomorrow.” Then, she stepped back so Mistpaw could celebrate with her family.
Willowpaw had been in attendance, of course. She was happy to see her sister making it to apprenticeship, although that was not clear on her face if you did not know her well. She observed with a steady gaze as her sister was called forth and the usual ceremony proceeded. Her ears perked when Poppyshin announced herself as Mistpaw’s new mentor. Both of her sisters were now being taught by the deputy. Willowpaw’s tail flicked briefly in the only sign of irritation as she tried to flush the jealousy away from her heart. Instead, she rose and hurried to her sister’s side. “Congratulations,” she mewed now that the ceremony was complete.
