Fernkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Smallbean lingered by the Tallrock for just a moment, memorizing his lines before scaling it in a matter of jumps. After briefly looking over the cats that padded around camp and locating the ones who would be a part of the ceremony, he called out, summoning the clan before him. "All cats old enough to run the moors gather around the Tallrock for a clan meeting!" A flicker of worry ignited within him, which he quickly attempted smother, taking in a few deep breaths to calm his nerves.

Fernkit rushed out of the nursery, pushing any kitten on her way. The young she-cat knew she was old enough to start her training but she still was insecure about this meeting being her ceremony. After all, Fernkit was still rather small for an apprentice.

Batsong heard the meeting called and gathered with her clan as fernkit ran out… oh good an apprentice was good news and batsong purred quietly to herself just observing for now.

The med cat looked down at her paws… she thought about birchgaze sadly and with every day that passed she slowly accepted more and more that her apprentice was gone. Maybe one day birchgaze would return home again like her apprentice rosepaw who was now back.

The return of rosepaw had filled her with so much joy and hope. She and rosepaw had been such good friends and her return had been a great boost to batsong


However with going to all these ceremonies she was slowly recognizing that she would need another apprentice for the clans next medicine cat. She would be keeping a watchful eye out for anyone that might have interest in such things

Sootpaw joined the crowd, his tail flicking happily. He didn't have much friends among the apprentices, and finally Fernkit was going to join him. They were so going to train together! The tom offered Fernkit a bright smile.

The kit appeared from the nursery, charging past any cat in her way. A small smile crossed his uncertain complexion, dissolving his worries. After confirming that the mentor was, too, present in the crowd below, he continued. "Fernkit, you have now reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From now until you become a warrior, you will be known as Fernpaw. Your mentor will be Kestrelchirp. I trust that uh- he'll teach you everything he knows." With that, the ceremony was concluded. Smallbean jumped down from the Tallrock and joined his clanmates, cheering the name of the clan's newest apprentice.

"Fernpaw! Fernpaw!" Sootpaw cheered the apprentice's new name.

The she-cat could see from the corner of her eyes that one of the apprentices had approached the crowd and even smiled when looking at her. Fernkit was a bit surprised by the kind gesture of the tom since she didn't know him very well. Without turning her face, the white and grey she-cat looked curiously. Since Sootpaw was already an apprentice... maybe he could be an excellent companion to practice and train!

Fernkit's thoughts were stopped when the deputy finally spoke again... and it was calling her name. The she-cat puffed up her chest proudly to hide her nervousness. She walked forward and a broad smile crossed her face when her new name and mentor were finally announced. At last! She was a Windclan apprentice! Fernpaw's tail waved from one to another, unable to contain her excitement. She looked around for Kestrelchirp and when the tom finally arrived, the she-cat almost jumped to touch noses with her mentor. "I won't disappoint you!" The little cat chirped to the young warrior while the clan mewed her new name.

Batsong cheered for the new apprentice "F-fernpaw!!"

She smiled seeing the apprentice now touching noses with her new mentor... she had a little flashback to when Birchgaze first became her apprentice. Seeing Kestrelchirp and Fernpaw together now made her want a new med cat apprentice all the more now.

Her search for a med cat apprentice would continue. But she also understood that she needed to pick someone correct for the task.

As the clan was called together Badgerkit padded towards the edge of the crowd as Fernkit was made an apprentice. "Fernkit, you have now reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From now until you become a warrior, you will be known as Fernpaw. Your mentor will be Kestrelchirp. I trust that uh- he'll teach you everything he knows.", the announcement was made, Fernpaw was now an apprentice!  As the clan began to chant the apprentice's new name Badgerkit joined in. "Fernpaw! Fernpaw! Fernpaw!" I hope I get apprenticed soon. Badgerkit thought enviously.
