Honeykit's Apprentice Ceremony

At the call of a clan meeting Sprucebark entered the main camp clearing from the med den. He had been sick for the last couple days but he was already feeling much better and almost well again. He looked up at his mom hoping that this was good news. Perhaps perchstar had been found? He folded his tail neatly over his paws waiting patiently.

Honeykit listened to the call, her eyes bright with excitement. He tried to control himself and move forward with dignity, but his tail was shaking.

heart pounding, he walked slowly. She looked around and her fur stood on end when she saw the eyes of other cats watching her. It made him want to howl with pride at the sky, so that the whole forest would know that this was a very special day.

Sprucebark was glad to see the meeting was good news in that a kit was ranking up to apprentice, but he was a bit surprised to be named mentor now. He looked up at his mom with a little nod that he would do his absolute best to show his new apprentice the ways of the warrior code and to teach her everything he knew how to survive.


He went over to his new apprentices side and gave her a small smile. "Its good to meet you Honeypaw!" he purred very formally. Sprucebark was a very formal cat and following rules and codes was the most important to him, he hoped that he could show honeypaw how important the code was and that they would get along super well too! She seemed eager enough and ready to go so that was already a great sign!

"I can help you set up a new nest over in the apprentice den and get all moved in.
We can start our training tomorrow" he explained.

Trembling with excitement, Honeypaw raised her head and bumped noses with her new mentor.
"I can't wait to learn everything you teach me! I will be the greatest warrior of all time!"
The young cat wanted to know her territory, learn to hunt and fight, she couldn't wait.

She felt the earth under her feet, the soft chirping of birds, and the leaves rustling in the forest, as if everyone was glad that she had become an apprentice, so she just enjoyed the moment.
