Thawkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" Perched on the Willow Branch, Scorchclaw's brown tabby form could be seen. The RiverClan deputy twitched his whiskers in a nonchalant manner as he waited for the rest of his clanmates to arrive at the usual meeting spot. Thawkit was to become an apprentice today.

Thawkit blinked hearing the call. She scrambled to her paws slipping past her mother and siblings and outside the nursery. Her fur stuck out slightly but not by much. She moved among the crowd quietly and sat down.

Amongst the crowd of multi-colored pelts, Scorchclaw spotted Thawkit's small form. The she-cat appeared relatively calm, even though she knew the reason for the clan meeting. She slipped through the furry throng, eventually finding a seat without too much trouble. The fluffy deputy watched her with a hint of curiosity in his green eyes. When the cats of RiverClan were gathered like they currently were now, it was easy to see just how large the clan had grown. Size brought problems of its own but also had its advantages. Despite the troubles that the past moons had brought, RiverClan was currently thriving and strong. After a short period of waiting, the ceremony was finally ready to begin. "Thawkit, step forward." With a twitch of his whiskers, the large tabby tom continued, "Thawkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this today onward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Thawpaw. Your mentor will be Reedclaw. He is currently training Turtlepaw, and he will do a good job training you too."

Reedclaw stepped up and touched noses with his new apprentice.  "Training begins in the morning, prepare yourself."  The tom said the words in a stern, but comforting way.  He wasn't out to scare the newly named apprentice, but he wanted her to be ready.
