Tawnypaw's Warrior Ceremony

With things finally settling down once more, and clan repairs close to completion, Nightstar was more than glad to give an apprentice their ceremony that was long overdue. "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!"

Tawnypaw padded into the center of the camp, her head high.

"Today we are all to witness the naming of a new warrior. Tawnypaw, please step forward." The tom sat silently as the apprentice did so. "I call upon all those present and watching to gaze upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of our noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Tawnypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Nightstar meowed, looking down at the apprentice below him. If any cat deserved their name, it was certainly Tawnypaw.

Paws placed with purpose, Sunpaw joined the growing circle of cats. Normally, his pelt itched with irritation at every warrior ceremony that wasn’t his, but tonight’s ceremony was different. Tonight, it was Tawnypaw’s turn. Sunpaw smiled a little, a crooked half-smile, as the younger she-cat stepped forward. Her beauty made enduring this taunting worthwhile.

Tawnypaw glanced sideways at her clanmates, all gathered here to watch her earn her warrior name. She nodded to her mentor, Forestbreeze. He had taught her well; she couldn't have asked for a better mentor. her gaze landed on a familiar golden pelt. Sunpaw... she couldn't hide her smile at the sight of the tom.

At Nightstar's call, her head shriveled back to the black tom. Her leader. "I do," she declared, meaning every word.

"Then it is my honor to name you a warrior before all witnesses present. Tawnypaw, from this day forward you will be known as Tawnyshadow. ShadowClan honors your loyalty and dedication, and we are proud to welcome you as a warrior in our ranks." Nightstar called, looking down proudly at the apprentice before he leaped from the rock, landing strongly in front of the apprentice, now warrior, and touched his nose to the she-cats. "Congratulations, you will be a great asset for Shadowclan to have. Take up your position for your vigil. You have come a long way, be proud of it." When he was done speaking, the tom backed up a bit with a nod before he let the new warrior go free.

Tawnyshadow dipped her head, too overwhelmed to utter a word. Her new name was picked up by her clanmates, cheered over and over again. "I am," she replied, the words caught in her throat. I am proud of my effort, she promised herself, and I'll only work harder.
