| "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"
The deputy's voice carried across camp even from the ground- she still didn't care to stand atop the Jaggedrock that marked their meeting place. | Sagekit watched on from the nursery as his bold and rebellious denmate, Tawnykit, stepped into the center of the camp. | The silver tortoiseshell stepped forward, holding her chin high and her tail level as she stood before Leopardsun. She had tried her best to carefully groom her long pelt until it shone like stone, but even so she now had the impulse to turn around and lick down every strand of her tail until none stood out. | "Tawnykit, please step forward."
This kit who was now ready to be apprenticed, who shared the name of the first kit she'd cared for as her own (one who hadn't made it to her own apprenticeship), served as a reminder that time marched on regardless of any one cat's wishes. Leopardsun allowed herself a single moment to consider that thought and its implications before returning her attention to the kit before her now.
Focus on what you can see.
It had served her well so far. ShadowClan was surviving, if not thriving; and she continued to do her part to keep the cats around her safe and happy despite the harsh world they lived in.
"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Tawnypaw. | Tawnypaw raised her head as her clanmates began cheering her new name-- Tawnypaw. It felt weird to think about, and she was more than hesitant to say it. Shaking her head to clear away her thoughts, she quickly scanned the gathered cats for the grey-brown tabby named Forestbreeze. my mentor. The silver tortoiseshell swallowed nervously at the thought. 【Shadowclan】♡【#C1E1C1】♡【T4 Warrior ║ 60[HP] | 140[SP]】 ❖ Forestbreeze sat down for the clan meeting—he was one of the first ones there surprisingly. He had been in the middle of doing in-camp chores when Leopardsun's voice rang out across the camp. He was sure that it wasn't any bad news; Nightstalker was usually the one to make such announcements. Was it an apprentice ceremony? Well, they would find out soon enough. ღ
❖ He'd been correct in his assumption. Young Tawnykit was gaining her mentor today. The she-kit was an adopted kit of Leopardsun. He had seen the little molly around but never got a chance to interact much with her. As the ceremony progressed, his own thoughts flickered back to the apprentice he had lost and a brief bout of grief clutched at his senses before he smoothed it down. Now wasn't the time to lose himself in guilt. ღ
❖ Amber eyes widened as his name was called suddenly. Huh? He scanned the deputy's face before confirming that he had, in fact, been called. He had a new apprentice? A whole flurry of emotions racked through him before he settled on a grateful look. He had been given another chance. He won't mess this up! He gave Leopardsun a slight nod before settling to wait for the ceremony to be officially concluded. ღ
❖ As soon as he was allowed, the large warrior made his way over to the newly-made apprentice (his!). He smiled down at the silver-and-white furred apprentice. "Nice to meet you, Tawnypaw. Congratulations on becoming an apprentice. As you might've deduced, I'm Forestbreeze, your mentor. We'll start your training early tomorrow—hunting is what we'll dive into first. Be sure to get plenty of rest and you'll be fine." He offered a reassuring smile. "I look forward to getting to know you, Tawnypaw. If you need anything at any time, don't hesitate to come to me. I'll try to be available to you always. For now, go and enjoy your time with your family and friends." He flicked his tail in a parting wave as he left to go resume his duties. ღ
