Born in Skyclan to Wolfcall and Blossomstep, Bloodkit has always been ambitious. Upon his first gathering as an apprentice, he carried himself proud and tall for all to see. Even as an apprentice he wanted to be the leader of Skyclan. He was also prone to getting into trouble. Hearing a Windclanner call Skyclan cowards was the catalyst that set Bloodpaw on his journey to the cat he is today. At the border of Skyclan and Shadowclan, Bloodpaw met Briarpaw, a meeting the erupted into violence swiftly. Bloodpaw had not been ready and was defeated, though he had no idea why Shadowclanners harbored such hate toward Skyclan. He intended to find out why. As soon as he was healed, Bloodpaw returned to the border and met Flintstar, Shadowclan's leader at the time. It was from him that he learned of the Righteous Few and that his current leader, Spottedstar, abandoned the clans to their fate rather than fight the renegade Starclan cats.

Now determined to prove that Skyclan was not a bunch of cowards, Bloodpaw was going to confront his leader as well as the Windclan cat that called his clan a clan of cowards. Once he became Bloodstrike, he met with Spottedstar, believing he needed to make the actions of his leader clear that it was affecting the clan negatively and that he needed to do something about it. Spottedstar belittled and dismissed Bloodstrike's efforts and sent the new warrior away in a terrible rage. Bloodstrike rarely spoke to his leader, and grandfather, after that. Bloodstrike honed his skills, vowing to never run away from a single battle to prove that Skyclan was strong. He confronted the Windclanner, Crowspirit, and they battled. Bloodstrike was the victor, but on the same night he learned that maybe some of those in Skyclan that he believed in and looked up to were not quite as perfect as he once thought.

Going away with a new respect and liking for Crowspirit, Bloodstrike wanted to strive toward an era of peace as well as secure his spot as a deputy by showing everyone how hard he worked and how good he was. His first mate became a warrior soon after, Smokefeather, and they had their first litter early on. In that first litter was Beechkit, Ravenkit, Dustkit and Dawnkit, his only son. Shortly after his kits were apprenticed, a fire swept through Skyclan territory and they had to leave. Bloodstrike received his first set of scars that night from Wolfcall, his father, when he tried to stop him from rushing back into the fire to save Firflower, Wolfcall's mother and Bloodstrike's grandmother. Spottedstar went into the fire himself to try and rescue Firflower as well as Mistrain, Bloodstrike's sister that he loved dearly.

Skyclan was forced to retreat to the Old Twoleg place, where life was hard and the future uncertain. Shaken by the loss of his sister, Bloodstrike began to change. His depression hit hard and he didn't know what to do but bury himself in his work. Spottedstar eventually returned, brought to the Old Twoleg place by Dawnpaw, but Bloodstrike barely held himself back from attempting to take his own leader's last lives. In front of everyone, he demanded that Spottedstar step down, that he was no longer fit to lead and that he wished it had been him that burned to death, not Mistrain or Firflower. Dismissed again by his leader, Bloodstrike's anger soared to new heights. Unable to find an outlet, it burned away the last thoughts of peace and tolerance for others that he had left. There was only inescapable rage that he could only find relief from with violence.

Ivystar, the Riverclan leader, found Skyclan at the Old Twoleg place and offered them a place in Riverclan territory, as Skyclan was starving and hardly thriving. Spottedstar accepted. Bloodstrike, already exhausted from burying himself in his work trying to keep his clan alive, pushed himself even further to "pay Riverclan back" for their help. He worked himself to exhaustion for moons, unable to find time to pay attention to his mate or kits. Eventually, Skyclan was able to return home to their charred territory, and the real work began. At about this time, Spottedstar disappeared mysteriously, his scent trail leading to the gorge and ending. Wolfcall, the deputy, was finally able to become Wolfstar and lead Skyclan into a new era. Bloodstrike was made deputy as well. Smokefeather and Bloodstrike had another litter of kits around this time.

Everything should have been happy and looking up for Skyclan and it's new leadership... but dark clouds were on the horizon. Foxes killed Dustpaw and Sagelight, the medicine cat. Bloodstrike vowed to hunt the fox down and destroy it for what it had done. After many fox hunts lead by the vengeful deputy himself, they killed fox after fox...  but not the one they were looking for, marked by having only one ear. Bloodstrike noticed something else wasn't right when he was out training Dawnhawk and Copperpaw, his two sons, and Smokefeather showed up after hearing Dawnhawk belittle his younger brother for being too slow in the trees. He ordered Smokefeather and Dawnhawk to spar, noting that his eldest son was taking after himself with his freakishly large muscles. It was... unnatural with just the bit of training he did in Skyclan territory. Still, it was a small detail that Bloodstrike ultimately dismissed. Dawnhawk and Smokefeather exchanged blows, with Smokefeather being the victor. An emotional discussion between mother and son erupted, and Bloodstrike thought it was best if he and Copperpaw leave them to it.

Moons of business as usual resumed, until Wolfstar left Bloodstrike in charge of the clan in his absence to go look for another family member. That night, Skyclan territory was invaded by a literal army of rogue cats called the Asylum. The rogues were lead straight to Skyclan camp by Dawnhawk himself. The skin of the one-eared fox was at Dawnhawk's feet as well, having killed the beast moons ago and never told anyone. Bloodstrike charged forward, keeping his vow to never run from a fight, ever. He was quickly beaten down, heavily scarred, had his tail ripped off, and was imprisoned for moons. He only survived because Dawnhawk told the Asylum's Nightstrikers, soldiers, not to kill him.

Bloodstrike spent his time imprisoned under the roots of Fourtrees, heavily sedated by poppy seeds until the Asylum was ready to torture him. They would chant his name as they inflicted terrible pain on him to get him to hate and fear his own name. Bloodstrike had endured so much torment and had his mind dulled from the poppy seeds for so long that when they imprisoned another Skyclan warrior with him, Flowerthorn, he didn't recognize her at all. She said his name... and Bloodstrike killed her immediately, thinking she was there to hurt him. It would be many moons, an entire leaf-bare, before Bloodstrike finally was able to step out of his prison and gain any sort of clarity as to what was going on around him. The clans brought the battle to Fourtrees, challenging the Asylum in one final battle. Bloodstrike was aware enough of what was going on to join in the fighting and beat the Asylum back.

Victorious, he headed home with the rest of the Skyclanners that were there. He was told horrendous tales of what his son Dawnhawk and the Asylum had done. It was then that he realized he had killed Flowerthorn, but only ever told Beechface, his daughter. He couldn't bring himself to tell her mate, Foxfire, that she was never coming home because of him. Smokefeather was also no longer herself, having lost a kit to the fangs of her own son in his fury. Bloodstrike had a long recovery to endure, weaning himself off of poppy seeds and enduring all of the pain and illness that came from the withdrawals. Likely his damaged mental and emotional state was what caused him to tell Smokefeather that they were no longer good for eachother (as well as a nasty reveal from Dawnhawk about Smokefeather being an abusive mother behind his back), and Smokefeather being in her altered mental state as well, put up hardly any fight. Their relationship ended there.

Bloodstrike was never the same after the Asylum's attack, the loss of his mate and the loss of his oldest son (though Dawnhawk was only a fugitive on the run) proved to be too much. The scarred tom was angry and had no other way to deal with it other than violence. It strained all of his relationships, some to the breaking point. Bloodstrike quickly found himself isolated and feeling alone within his own clan.
