Locusts Name Change Ceremony

Nightstar was elated to be having this ceremony today. His best friend, previously Cicadashriek, now Locust, would be getting a new name. Cicadashriek no longer fit his friend, and it was his wish to respect his new name and give him a new suffix to represent who he was now, and Nightstar was more than happy to oblige. Hopping onto a section of rock that was just a little bit taller than the rest, Nightstar called for his clan.

"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!"

Locust flicked an ear at the sound of his leader's call, glancing to where Nightstar had situated himself upon the rocks. It still ignited a little excitement in him to see his friend looking and acting like a leader, just as much as it sent little flickers of jealousy that he quickly swallowed down. He stood to his paws, joining the gathering cats and having a quick glance around. He didn't know the exact ages of the cats around him, but a few looked old enough to be having their own ceremonies, but there was an itching suspicion that it could be his own as well. He couldn't go by Cicadashriek anymore but being without a proper warrior name was painful; perhaps now was the time to fix that.

Once his clan had gathered, Nightstar looked to his friend "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for who they are. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on Locust will be known as Locustcall, for this cat is not the same as they were many moons ago, and thus deserving of a name that represents the cat they have become." 'jumping' down from his perch, the tom strode forwards to meet his friend and touched his nose to Locustcall's forehead.

Nightstar caught his eye and Locust could feel himself straighten with pride. It was his turn, his loner name finally taken away and given something new. He wasn't Cicadashriek, nor was he Locust, but now Locustcall. A proper warrior name and a proper fresh start in the clan. The tom purred, bowing his head lightly to accept the press of his leader's nose. "Thanks," he expressed softly. It felt good to have a suffix once again.
