Larkkit
Larkkit was feeling increasingly annoyed at the free time he has been left with. Rookkit was busy more and more. Larkkit would not exactly blame his brother, considering all of the business that RiverClan has been left with. However, he could blame anyone else in the clan and he would more or less be correct in his assumptions. The leader, the deputy, the twolegs, the other warriors—certainly any one of them was responsible for the less-than-ideal situation that the young kit found himself in. And now, being currently alone with nothing to entertain him, Larkkit reluctantly left the nursery in search of something that could entertain him, as the queens left had long since irritated him and he needed to spend time away from their immediate vicinity.
His eyes landed on the first warrior in sight. He recalled her name being…Kitespring, was it? Something along those lines. He approached where she was sitting to rest and he sat down before her. Larkkit silently reminded himself that he had to be more approachable with others than he did with his brother. However, despite that silent reminder to himself, he still delivered a blunt, “What are you doing right now? Shouldn’t warriors be doing work for the clan?”

Kitespring barely had energy to keep herself going.
Martenpaw's death was painful enough, but when Dovesight passed on to the stars, she broke. Even her safe spot in the middle of camp wasn't the same. Watching the cats move around camp, the russet she-cat barely moved, except when her duties were needed. She couldn't even bring herself to make a collage or make her own stories to keep her mind away from her death.
Even though Larkkit's blunt words stung like herbs on flesh, she couldn't be mad at him for saying it. He didn't know any better, and he was right. What was she doing here? Shouldn't she be working for the clan, instead of moping around and doing nothing? "I'm not sure," she replied. "I just... I don't have energy to do stuff."
If a young kit like him walked up to a mess like her, he probably wanted something from her. Maybe... he was bored? If he was bored, then he'd be interested in a game, right? Maybe not moss-ball, since he could just as easily play that in the nursery. So... a game that she could make? "Do you want to play a game?" she asked. She had some ideas forming in her head, but she didn't want to act on them if Larkkit was in fact uninterested in playing a game. But maybe a game could take her mind off of Dovey's death and make her feel more whole.

Larkkit
Larkkit had not mastered keeping some of his truer feelings under wraps, which is why his nose wrinkled and his eyes narrowed in distaste at the first offer Kitespring provided. Not only was she a warrior who didn’t want to do things warriors were supposed to do, but she also wanted to play a game with a kit? Larkkit could not keep straight what a warrior was actually responsible for. Half of the warriors in his clan seemed to be too soft for what a warrior supposedly was meant to be like, according to his father.
He recovered quickly and his expression reverted back to gentler neutrality. Even if he did not enjoy playing with anyone outside of his sibling, Larkkit supposed it did not hurt to give it a try. Perhaps this warrior would surprise him.
“If you have a game in mind, I will play with you,” Larkkit replied. “I don’t know what games warriors often play.”

Kitespring felt like Larkkit wasn't exactly as enthused about this game idea as she hoped he'd be. But he did seem kinda interested in the game, so that was a plus. "Well, warriors aren't mythical forces of nature. They can't work all the time, because otherwise they get burnt out." Realizing he might not put the pieces together yet, Kitespring decided to make an analogy to make it easier for him to process. "Sitting in the nursery gets boring after a while, does it not? You get restless, since there's only so much you can do there, and you want to get outside and do something different." That was how she felt when she was stuck in the nursery as a young kit, an energy inside of her that wanted to go out and do something different for once. Of course, she had no idea how Larkkit would react to that, but that was her best try to get through to him.
"Well, this is a game that I haven't actually played with someone else. It's just a concept, I guess. I call it 'One-Sentence-Story.' Let's say I start with this sentence: 'Long ago, there was a cat who lived under a mountain.' You, then, add yourself another sentence to connect it. For example, you could say 'The five clans feared him as a dangerous threat.' And then this cycle continues, until one of us says 'The End' at the end of our sentence to end the story." Kitespring smiled at Larkkit's unreadable gaze. "Does that sound interesting to you?"

Larkkit
If Larkkit were truthful, he would say that the game sounded stupid. It wasn’t that Kitespring was bad at making games; Larkkit just was not the type of cat that enjoyed them. He did not even enjoy batting a moss ball with Rookkit. He was more of a cat who liked to sit and observe however he could. But he was the one who approached Kitespring, and she was kind enough to suggest a game, so Larkkit would not be rude and deny her what she had offered.
“That sounds interesting,” Larkkit lied. He did wonder if there were rules to this game. How outrageous could a story get? Was there a way to do it wrong? Kitespring had given a fairly extreme example, with a cat that was living his life turning into a huge threat in the span of a sentence. There were probably no rules. “I will begin: There was a cat who was taken by twolegs.”
It was a simple enough start to a story. And very topical as well. Larkkit did not know much about the world—though he would never admit to that—and the twolegs were the most exciting thing he knew of. Perhaps the story could even be about his father, in a way. Maybe this story would spell out his fate.

Kitespring smiled. It was nice to see Larkkit being interested in her game. 'There was a cat who was taken by Twolegs'... Well, that was certainly very... related to recent events. Perhaps that was why Larkkit started it off that way, though. I should follow up with...
"They took him to a place far, far away." That was what the Twolegs were doing to all her clanmates, right? They were taking them somewhere, somewhere far from the clans, and nobody knew where they were taking their clanmates. Of course, she was interested to see how Larkkit would continue the story.
Story So Far: 1. "There was a cat that was taken by Twolegs." 2. "They took him to a place far, far away."

Larkkit
Larkkit’s ear twitched with irritation at Kitespring’s follow-up. Her example had shown drastic changes in the story, and yet her provided response changed nothing. Twolegs taking the cat far far away was a given. Was he supposed to respond in kind, with something that barely meant anything at all, or something that changed it entirely? Larkkit should have known better than to expect any cat other than his sibling to explain rules fully.
No matter. Larkkit only continued, to the best of his ability. “They kept him in a deep, dark, dirty nest where he could not escape.”
