Stone-Faced [Firekit/Rainpaw/Plumleaf/semi-open]

Stonekit had found a corner to sit in, watching the mostly-bare branches above sway in the wind. Mistkit was probably still napping, but Stonekit found that she couldn't sleep. Her mind was constantly buzzing with everything that had happened recently. The twoleg monsters that had invaded the clearing, the mad dash away and thankfully being picked up by Plumleaf. The constant air of tension within the hollow felt like it could be cut by claws. The tired kit's fur hadn't seemed to lay completely flat in days, not that the state of her fur really mattered to Stonekit.

Small claws absently plucked at the grass beneath as pale green eyes turned toward the clearing. She wished Mistkit was awake, but didn't have the heart to disturb her if she wasn't yet, so she remained sitting where she was. Her clanmates were all around her, and that should've made her feel safe... But it was hard to feel safe after witnessing even all the warriors of other clans as well as her own running about in panic.

Firekit had been confused ever since... well everything began happening. His parents just kept saying that when he was older he'd understand, but it seemed like nobody understood! The ground had shook, and then twolegs started taking his clanmates, but nobody could tell him why. It frustrated the young tom like nothing else ever had. He had sort of just wandered around, never straying too far from his clanmates of course, but the kit had always preferred his own company anyway. Though he had to admit, he had been a little lonely, despite the near constant gaze of one parent or another, but they were focused on big clan troubles.

Amber eyes focused on the other kit in the corner. Firekit wasn't necessarily blessed with social skills, but he decided to go sit next to the she-cat. It would be a comfort to at least be near another kit maybe. Awkwardly, he settled in nearby, glancing at Stonekit. A mumbled, "Hi", made its way out of Firekit as he swung his tail in the dirt. He wondered if he should maybe be doing something more productive, but sitting was kinda nice.

Plumleaf was making her rounds, checking in on everyone and making sure they didn't need anything. It was all she could do to distract herself, stay productive instead of letting her negative emotions consume her. The absences within the clan felt like gaping holes in everything she knew to be normal, so checking on everyone regularly was the only way to get rid of the lingering fear that more cats she loved would disappear. She'd visited nearly everyone that wasn't sleeping or patrolling, so upon seeing the kits she decided to head over to chat with them. She'd always enjoyed being around kits; they were so innocent, full of life and curiousity about the world around them. It was hard to think she'd been that way once, playful and airy, never thinking of much past her next nap. She sat down near the two kits, a gentle smile on her maw.

"Hey 'kits. How are you doing today?" It was a basic question, not much in the way of a conversation starter, but she was honestly curious. If the recent hardships had taken a toll on seasoned warriors, she couldn't imagine how they'd affect the little ones. She wished she could protect them from it all, but alas, it was out of her control. Most things seemed to be, and that was just something she had to accept.
