Trekking [open/invasion-kinda]

((this happens after Restless Soul, but as that thread has not yet concluded it’ll only be vaguely referenced. astraeus needs a battle req so if your cat could get at least one hit in that’d be great! also, if necessary this can take place before the quake :D))


A lone silvery pelt followed just along the Clan border. It was dawn, now, the sun’s warm glow peeking over the horizon. As long as he continued at this quick pace, Astraeus reckoned he should reach the other side of this territory before the sun rose high in the sky. He opened his maw, taking a fresh whiff of the open moor, memories tingling at the edge of his mind. He’d killed a hawk here, hadn’t he? This must be WindClan, then- he flicked his tail playfully. They hadn’t caught him then- he doubted they’d catch him now.

Astraeus veered from his path and headed at a quick trot across the heath, cutting through WindClan territory. This felt like it surely must be the outskirts of their territory- and so early in the morning, the patrols must still be at their camp. Right? Besides, it was just a quick shortcut. He’d be long gone in no time.

The morning dew glittered on the grasses of the moor. The brisk breeze curled around Astraeus’ thick pelt, inviting him to run and frolic in the flowers that still held onto life. He didn’t have time for the latter, but as for the former-

It was exhilarating to run, really run, stretch his legs and bolt across the moor, tumbling down hidden slopes and leaping over burrows his keen hawk’s eyes noticed at the last moment. Nothing chased him, as far as he was aware- he ran out of the joy of running, the pure ecstasy of simply being alive.

At last, Astraeus slowed to a trot. He must be nearly to the border by now, he mused, flicking his tail. He’d left a scent trail right across the edge of WindClan territory- true- but surely, surely he’d be out of their territory before anycat caught him.
