In real life, even when we’re really good at something, there’s always a chance that we might mess up. The hunting system adds that element and gives an extra level of believability. The most important things to know are:
1.) You will roll a “Hunting Die” to get a generated number between 1 and 10. Rolling a die is an option on web mode only (which you can do on mobile by clicking the top right corner and clicking “web version”). You will add this before you submit your post so that the number can be generated.
2.) Each Clan has different success rates with different prey, and the numbers change depending on the season. You’re not going to see a lot of fish caught in ShadowClan, for example. Generally, it’s a lot harder to hunt in leafbare than greenleaf. SkyClan has the highest success rates with catching birds and squirrels; any roll from 1-8 will result in a successful catch. 3.) You want lower rolls so you can be within the range for success for the prey you’re trying to catch. The only special case is a 10 in all seasons or 8-10 in a “harsh season”. This will produce a predator. At that point, you would use the battle system to take on the predator until it flees or you get a KO or it KOs you. If that takes place, I’ll write you another guide. :)
4.) An attempt at hunting uses Stamina Points (SP), whether you’re successful or not. As an apprentice, Stoatpaw has 20 HP and 60 SP. As a T1 warrior, Frostbite has 30 HP and 80 SP. Generally, all seasons except leafbare will be -3 SP per hunting attempt, and leafbare would be -5 SP. If a “harsh season” is called, these would change to -5 SP and -7 SP respectively.
5.) After you post and see your die roll, you will edit the post to reflect the result. A capture if successful, or failure, or the arrival or a predator.
