Moonstone

Sandypaw nervously smiled to the rest of the joining medicine cats.
“H-hello.. I’m Sandypaw.” She tried not to seem too scared, but her nerves got the better of her. Taking refuge by Dovesight's flank, the small apprentice watched the older cats commute. They all seemed nice, and Batsong was quite like her. Nervous. She started to feel comfortable watching the cats give each other friendly advice, but that was ruined when Batsong made aggressive comments towards the Skyclan healer. Her eyes widened, legs stiffening. Dovesight’s quickness to flee did not help. She apologized when her mentor nearly tripped over her startled self.

Sandypaw looked over to the other medicine cats, frozen in uncertainty. Fuzzybelly- the actual Shadowclan medicine cat- offered direction, which she quickly latched onto as Batsong passed her. Swiftly tailing the brown tabby into the cave, she took a spot next to her already asleep mentor. Sandypaw curled up into her aunt, finding comfort in her fur. She took a few deep breaths, trying to slow down her heart. The she-cat looked into the Moonstone’s glow. She hoped to meet a kind cat like Spiderquill again. With one more deep breath she lay down her head, the tip of her nose on the cold stone surface.

Fawnshine

Eventually, all the medicine cats arrived. It was time to go on with the traditions they held, and so, Fawnshine would allow any inquiries and greetings to be resolved before following the rest. "I hope you and your clan are alright, Fuzzybelly. We're glad you could make it." She spoke briefly. She listened to the tom's answer to her apprentice's question. That was true. "He is right, Eggdrop. Each herb may have its own special way of storing, though, of course, you can ask me more about them in detail when we're back. And yes, let's begin now."

What does StarClan have for us today, I wonder?

Hopefully, it would be something to give her a clue. StarClan truly works in mysterious ways... Why must all their say be in riddles? Wouldn't straightforward warnings, or prophecies be better? Or perhaps, did they enjoy toying with the living that much? Shaking her head, Fawnshine would gaze at the Moonstone. Taking in a short breath, she pressed her nose to it, the momentarily chill passing through her body before she became unconscious.

"Old ways become new, bringing challenges to those who wish to follow this tight path."

Eventually, her eyes would open, the words StarClan has whispered to her still intact in her mind. The tip of her tail would flick with curiosity. This time, no specific names were mentioned. Only vague assumptions of 'those' and challenges. Would something troubling be happening, perhaps? She could only hope it wouldn't be so bad as she feared.

Fogfeather flippantly ignored Batsong, giving the older medicine cat a cold glare before turning away. He had no idea what the molly was even talking about, never one to pry into business that didn't involve him— it must have been some WindClan drama, and if Batsong thought that she had somehow hurt Fogfeather with her words, had him trudging home with his tail between his legs, then she must truly have no brain behind those eyes.

It took a few more agonizing moments before enough medicine cats gathered to begin— this was Fogfeather's second medicine cat gathering, and he was already growing to dread them. The visions, however, were slowly growing to be the tom’s favorite part; he could rest, StarClan didn’t ever bother with many words, and no other annoying medicine cats would come up and engage with him.

Fogfeather was silent as he addressed the Moonstone, closing his eyes and pressing his nose against the surface. He didn’t really care about the little stories StarClan would share with him, but he distantly hoped this one would at least be more interesting than the last.
