Falling Feathers [Closed]

There had been reports of an owl out in the territory. At least from some other warriors and apprentices, and Echomist was tasked with dealing with it. Well him and his sister. An owl wasn't that big of a deal to fight, but it did drive away prey and could be an issue for apprentices if they weren't careful. So it needed to go. Finding it though would be a little bit of a challenging considering owls could cover some distance.

"I hope we can find the owl before it finds us." The spotted tom said lowly. If they could get the jump on it the better off the duo would be. "Do you remember where some of the sightings were?" The tom asked his sibling who wasn't too far behind him.

Harechaser was happy to be patrolling with her brother, though she wished it wasn't for the reason of finding an owl that had been scaring off prey in the territory. She trotted after Echomist, content not to break the silence until he spoke.

"I'm sure we'll find it either way." She mewed softly, "The pines, maybe? It has to have a nest somewhere close, right?"

The tom nodded. "We will start there." The tom started to head that way, guiding his sister through the marsh that was their territory. The pines were growing closer in the distance when a certain sound caught his attention. He paused in his steps when the sound changed.. It was a screech. "Look out!" It seemed the Owl had found them first, but the tom didn't know who it would target first, he hoped it was him, he didn't want his sister getting hurt. Echomist felt claws sink into his back and he was quick to turn on the owl and try to pin it to the ground.

Owl used Swoop dealing 9 damage, -15 SP
Echomist used Leap and Hold dealing 8 (+1) damage, -15 SP. Night Finesse active. Owl is pinned for one turn!

With a nod, Harechaser was quick to follow her brother. She hoped they found the owl quickly, dealing with it sooner rather than later would be a good thing. It seemed like they weren't the only ones out hunting, and hearing her brother's warning, the tortoiseshell's claws unsheathed. The owl attacked Echomist first, and Harechaser hissed at it, claws flashing out toward the owl's wings. Echomist had been quick to turn on the owl and pin it, so the owl couldn't exactly move out of the way of her strike.

Harechaser used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -8 damage.
Night Finesse active, +1 damage dealt.

The owl screeched as it was pinned, it's claws and wings going wildly trying to get out of the tom's grip. Eventually it did free itself, but without dealing damage like it wanted.

Owl is no longer pinned!

Echomist hissed as his grip slipped a powerful wing almost hitting him upside the head as the bird try to take to the air. He wasn't going to let it get too far though. If it took to the sky again it would be difficult to strike back. The tom lashed out, his claws trying to dig into the Owl's wings to keep it close to the ground. If it's flight feathers were gone it would be easier.

Hissing as the owl finally broke free of her brother grip, Harechaser leaped in, fangs snapping at the creature's neck. It had been weakened enough, and while Echomist no longer pinned it to the ground, the bird wasn't quick anymore. Once it lay on the ground unmoving, Harechaser's mismatched gaze turned toward Echomist.

"Well, at least that's taken care of." She mewed, "Are you alright?"

Harechaser used Snap for -7 sp, dealing - damage.

Echomist was relieved when it was gone. No longer would it plague Shadowclan territory, and now their patrols could hunt in peace. Maybe someone in camp would find it makes a wonderful meal for a group of cats. His gaze turned towards his sister once she spoke to him. "Yeah I'm fine. Nothing to bad to worry about, but we should get this bird back to camp. I'm sure someone would be happy with the food." He told her. "Nothing happened to you, correct?" He didn't think so, but he wanted to make sure.
