Iceheart hummed and considered that. “You are large and strong—if another cat falls in, you should be able to grab them at their scruff and haul them out. Or, at the least, drag them to a place in the pool where they can pull themselves out. Cats will struggle and panic when they are in the water, so you need to watch out for their claws. If you fall in…” She grew quiet, thinking. They weren’t RiverClan cats. It was hard for any cat outside of RiverClan to swim effectively. There was a reason that the deep marshes were known as a dangerous spot to the ShadowClan cats. “Try not to panic too hard. Thrashing will not help keep you afloat. Slower, powerful movements will keep you afloat and hopefully push you towards the edge so you can pull yourself up.”
Iceheart hoped that that would never happen. Honeypaw had already gone through a frightening experience thanks to that foxheart Fawnpatch. She didn’t want him to ever experience that again. “Just go slowly through the marshes, and you won’t find yourself falling in again.”

Honeypaw
Honeypaw took a big, deep breath. He sheathed and unsheathed his claws a few times, steadying himself on the muddy ground. He ran Iceheart’s words over in his mind. He’s not helpless and unaware anymore. He could handle himself. Iceheart was right. If he was careful, and smart, he would be fine.
“Okay.” He turned to Iceheart, and then bonked his head against her shoulder gratefully. “Thank you, Iceheart. I think… I think I feel better. Less. Irrational about it, I guess.” He gave her a tiny smile.

Iceheart nodded to Honeypaw and gently bumped her head against his flank. “The more you grow, the less these fears will take hold. Everything that seems worse when you’re young will only grow smaller as you get older.” She looked at Honeypaw for another brief moment before she turned forward again. “Alright. Let’s keep moving.”
