Driftcloud cracked one eye open from where he lay lounging in a late morning patch of sun, his stomach rumbling. Their gaze floated over to the fresh-kill pile. It was moderately stocked, but it could always use more food.

Now that the Dark Forest was banished, the camp felt surprisingly empty. No despair hanging over their heads, no starless night sky, no...fear. It was nice to enjoy some peace and quiet for a change, but the warrior couldn't help but miss the excitement.

Getting to their paws, they lumbered past the fresh-kill pile, taking note of what was low and what they had plenty of. Making his way towards the entrance to camp, Driftcloud gave a long stretch, popping his joints and irritating the still-healing wounds he had received from the recent battle. With a grumble, he shook his fur out to relieve some more tension, and looked back over his shoulder at the camp.

"'M goin' huntin', if anyone wants to come with," he called, not towards anyone in particular. Whoever wanted to join, that was perfectly fine with them.

Dandelionflight was basking in the warm sunlight. She hadn't been able to relax like this for moons. It was good to unwind. A call sounded from the camp entrance; she blinked open her eyes. Driftcloud was the source of the noise, and she stood up to join him on his hunting expedition. Dandelionflight had fought beside them in the battle, and she would like to get to know them better. She stretched before bounding after him, entering the forest beyond. She trotted next to him, smiling, and meowed, "Hey Driftcloud!"

"Oh, hey Dandelionflight," he meowed, inclining his head a little in greeting. Seeing no one else jump at the call, Driftcloud shrugged and got to his paws, leading the way out of camp.

After several moments of silence, they spoke up once more, looking back over their shoulder at her. "Glad t'see yer not too beat-up from the battle. I got a couple wounds myself, but nothin' I can't handle." They kept their ears and nose open for any sign of prey as they walked.

Finally, there was a rustle up above, and a small songbird fluttered down into the brush. It hadn't noticed the two cats, and Driftcloud dropped into a hunting crouch. Creeping forward on silent paws, he padded forward, ever closer. The bird finally spotted him and began to take flight with a squawk, but the white warrior was already one step ahead, leaping with claws outstretched to catch it in the air.

His paws made contact and he dropped to the ground, finishing the little bird off with a swift bite to the neck. Another piece to add to the pile.

Driftcloud attempted to catch a bird, costing 3 stamina. He was successful!

Dandelionflight heard a flutter of wings and turned to see where it had come from. Driftcloud had been faster, though, and was already going after the songbird. She waited until they had finished before meowing, "Nice catch!" She started to wander off in search of her prey. Some fox lengths away a rustle in the underbrush sounded and she instinctively fell into a crouch. A squirrel emerged and Dandelionflight slinked after it. Eventually, she was close enough and leaped forward.

The squirrel spotted her before she reached it and darted for a nearby tree. Despite its best attempt to escape, she was just behind it. Flinging out a paw, she hooked it in her claws and delivered a swift bite to its neck. She picked it up and quickly buried it in the roots of the tree. That would be able to feed a few cats, for sure!

Dandelionflight successfully caught a squirrel, costing 3 SP!
